About This Pub
Ah, The Victoria Tavern – it's one of those pubs that really captures the heart of a good British local, tucked away in Ruddington. From what I've gathered from the chatter online, it's a winner for beer lovers, with people going on about the excellent, well-kept brews that stand out in Nottingham. The staff come across as genuinely welcoming, adding to that homely vibe where you can settle in for a relaxed evening. It's nicely decorated, clean as a whistle, and just the right spot for catching up with mates over a game of cards or a quiet conversation, even if the telly's on in the background. On the flip side, there was that one tale of a dreadful visit with some unwelcoming characters making things uncomfortable, which is a shame and might make you think twice on a bad night. Plus, it's all about the drinks here since there's no grub to speak of, so plan ahead if you're peckish. All in all, with the positive buzz outweighing the negatives, it's a solid choice for a laid-back pint, but like any pub, it's got its quirks – worth checking out if you're nearby and up for a bit of that old-school charm.
Pros and Cons

-
The staff are generally warm and friendly, creating that welcoming vibe you hope for in a traditional pub.
-
It's got a cosy, traditional atmosphere that's comfortable, clean, and perfect for a good chat without too much fuss.
Cons
-
One review highlighted a really unwelcoming experience with some loud and offensive folks, which could put a damper on things.
-
There's no food on offer, so you'll have to pop elsewhere if you're after a bite to go with your pint.
-
It might not suit everyone, as it's an old-style pub that could feel a bit hit-or-miss depending on the crowd.

Best kept beer in Nottingham and the bar star are always friendly. A wonderful pub!
An excellent old public houses, with great beers
No food here but it’s a nice old pub right on the main road. Good beers to choose from. I had a John Smith’s as I didn’t fancy an IPA…
Well kept bitter off the hand pump. Comfortable, clean, nicely (tastefully) decorated and welcoming house that feels like a traditional village pub and doesn't disappoint. Despite sport being on TV at the back of the bar, we were able to hold a conversation - and play some cards undisturbed by noisy distractions, and without shouting to be heard - which is another major plus for me.
I'll definitely be visiting again.
AVOID!! What a dreadful and unwelcoming place. How is it still in business?! I popped in with son and daughter-in-law for a quiet drink early one evening. The landlord and two idiots at the bar took it upon themselves to be deliberately loud and offensive. We left after one drink wondering why we bothered going there, and took a short walk to the Ruddington Arms, where we found a much more welcoming atmosphere, and where the only chips to be found were on the menu rather than on the shoulders of people who should know better.
