About This Pub
Ah, The Urmston – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper community hub in Manchester, you know? I've heard from loads of folks that it's a top choice for grabbing a pint of something refreshing or tucking into some solid British pub grub, especially with those seasonal menus and unbeatable deals that make it wallet-friendly. The staff are genuinely lovely, always up for a chat and quick to sort you out, which makes the whole experience feel warm and inviting. Plus, the beer garden's a winner on a sunny day, and it's great for families with that play area to keep the kids entertained. On the flip side, it's not all roses; a few people have mentioned the food can be hit or miss, like that Sunday roast not quite hitting the heights it should, and service might not always be as attentive when things get hectic. Overall, though, it's a solid spot worth checking out if you're in the area – just maybe give it a ring ahead if you're after a table for a group meal to avoid any hiccups.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff at The Urmston are absolutely brilliant – always welcoming, quick on their feet, and make you feel right at home, which really adds to the cosy vibe.
-
They've got a cracking selection of beers and ales, including those award-winning JW Lees ones, and the beer garden is perfect for soaking up the sun with a pint.
-
The food's generally spot on, with fresh seasonal dishes and pub classics that hit the mark, plus great deals like the pub lunch for two – ideal for catching up with mates midweek.
-
It's a proper family-friendly spot with a children's play area outside, making it easy for a relaxed day out without the little ones getting bored.
-
Easy to get to with a bus stop nearby, and it's often buzzing with a great atmosphere, especially for events like quiz nights or enjoying a Sunday roast with unlimited gravy.
Cons
-
Some dishes, like the Sunday roast, can be a bit disappointing if they're not up to scratch – one person mentioned it tasting bland and reheated, which is a shame for such a lovely setting.
-
Service can occasionally feel a tad rushed or just okay rather than outstanding, so it might not always live up to the high standards on busier days.

Always a nice venue to visit, often busy but the staff are very quick, polite and attentive. Prices are good as is the food, if your in a group and wish for food I would recommend phoning ahead and speak to the staff beforehand. The venue is easy to get to as there is a bus stop very close by making it ideal for families to enjoy.
Very nice local pub , only had drinks on a Friday night but the service and the pub itself was very good and recommended if you live in the area or happen to be passing .
Great pub, landlord is top, the staff were welcoming and helpful and the atmosphere in pub was fantastic.
Nice beer garden to make the most of the weather and regularly have different and seasonal beers in.
Will go back again to try out the food.
Dropped in because we were in the area and it was a lovely sunny day. The bar staff were very friendly and welcoming which made you want to stay longer. The bar food was hot and delicious and very reasonably priced. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and a great pint of Guinness .
Went for Sunday lunch as we've lived nearby for ages but never made it before. Sadly the roast was bland and tasteless, and felt like it had been reheated one too many times. Service was nothing more than perfunctory. Such a shame as the building is beautiful and the decor and furniture gave you the impression it was a step above. The place has a beef roast every Sunday but doesn't have any mustard - read into that what you will.
