About This Pub
Ah, The Union Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Tyldesley. From what I've gathered, the food is where they really shine; think fresh, hearty meals with massive portions that could easily sort you out for the day, all made with local ingredients that give it that authentic feel. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels looked after, which really adds to the cosy, welcoming vibe. It's a great place to pop in for a pint with friends, especially with their solid range of drinks on offer. On the flip side, though, it can get a tad hectic when things are buzzing, leading to waits at the bar or slower service with food orders – nothing major, but it's worth keeping in mind if you're after a quick stop. And don't forget about the parking; it's not the easiest, so you might have to plan ahead. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with the flow and you'll have a brilliant time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – fresh, homecooked, and locally sourced, with huge portions that leave you feeling well satisfied.
-
The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a lovely, cosy atmosphere that's perfect for catching up with mates or family over a pint.
-
A great selection of cask ales, spirits, and wines means there's something for everyone, whether you're after a classic or something a bit different.
-
They're really community-minded, supporting local events and fundraisers, which adds a nice touch to the whole experience.
Cons
-
Service can get a bit slow when it's busy, so if you're in a rush, it might not be the best choice.
-
There can be long waits at the bar during peak times, which might put a dampener on things if you're eager for that next drink.
-
Parking is a bit of a hassle with not much available nearby, so you might end up walking a short distance or finding a spot further away.

Lovely food, welcoming people. Would definitely recommend this place!
A little slow with the food orders as was busy.
But beautiful food
Nice atmosphere,
Good service from serving staff, a long wait at bar for drinks but yet again because busy.
Only downfall, lack of parking close by.
Visited tonight for the first time for my uncles birthday and we was not disappointed. The food is absolutely beautiful! some of the best homemade chips I’ve ever had. The staff was absolutely fantastic and welcoming. Will definitely be recommending and coming again. Such a cosy place with a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere. My son especially enjoyed the humongous sundae!
Staff are lovely, food and cocktails always 10/10, portion sizes are huge, never disappointed
Lived in Tyldesley for many years and whilst I’ve had a few drinks here today was the first time I’d eaten.
I had a mixed grill and it was fantastic. The main part of the meal filled a large plate and there was a bowl of home made proper chips on the side. The meat was cooked perfectly.
The only disappointment was that it had taken me so long to eat here!
