About This Pub
Ah, The Colliers – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a relaxed evening in Tyldesley. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks absolutely love the welcoming atmosphere; it's got that genuine community spirit where you can chat away with mates over a pint. The bar staff are top-notch, always up for a laugh and quick with your order, which really makes the place shine. And let's not forget the drinks – they're reasonably priced with some cracking offers, especially on those well-kept real ales that keep drawing people back. Plus, with HD screens showing all the big sports events, it's a brilliant spot if you're into football or rugby. On the flip side, it's a bit of a downer that they don't do food, so if you're peckish, you might need to plan ahead. Weekends can get heaving too, which is great for the vibe but means it might not be the quietest spot for a chinwag. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone after an affordable, traditional pub experience in Manchester – just go in with the right expectations, and you'll have a whale of a time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's a welcoming, community-focused spot that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
The bar staff are brilliant; they're friendly, efficient, and really add to that cosy, local vibe.
-
Drinks are fantastic value, with well-kept real ales and unbeatable offers that won't break the bank – perfect for a casual night out.
-
It's clean, comfy, and has been nicely refurbished, making it a proper traditional pub that's a cut above the rest.
-
They've got live sports on HD screens, including football, rugby, and more, so it's ideal if you're up for watching the game with a pint.
Cons
-
It doesn't serve food, which is a shame if you're after a bite to eat with your drink – you'll have to pop elsewhere for that.
-
Things can get a bit too busy on Fridays and Saturdays, turning it into a lively hub that might feel a tad overwhelming at times.
-
It's still finding its feet compared to some mid-range locals, so while it's solid, it might not have all the bells and whistles just yet.

Fantastic pub, superb atmosphere and excellent bar staff...don't serve food..
Under new management, beers ok, same punters from down the Pits along with same tables and chairs. Decent enough but not quite running with the mid range local pubs yet.
Probably the nicest comfiest pub I've been in. It's a bit too busy Friday and Saturday, but all that means is it's a victim of its own success. The landlord is fantastic
Bright, clean and much improved since it was recently refurbished. A proper traditional pub with 3 hand pumps serving well kept real ales at a very reasonable price.
UPDATE.. Nothing much has changed, but where other pubs have been increasing prices, beers here remain exceptionally good value, and always perfectly kept 👍👍
What a fantastic local pub. Managed by a couple who give 100% to their customers. Who reciprocate by coming back time and again to enjoy the loverly friendly local atmosphere . With a great choise of fairly priced good tasting beers.
