About This Pub

Ah, The Turk's Head in Twickenham – it's one of those cosy pubs that feels like a proper local gem, you know? The staff really stand out; they're so warm and on point, whether you're just nipping in for a drink or planning something bigger like a wedding. I've heard great things about how they handle events, with everything set up just right and a real effort to make your night memorable. The food has its winners, like that tasty Haddock and chips, and it's a top choice for catching live sport with a pint in hand. On the other hand, it's not all smooth sailing – a few mates mentioned the Steak Sandwich was a letdown, and it seems like things have slipped a bit since the management switched over, with the menu feeling a tad uninspired at times. Still, overall, it's a solid spot for a relaxed evening, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe play it safe with the grub. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in
  • They do a cracking job with some classic dishes, like the Haddock and chips, which are fresh and satisfying
  • It's a brilliant spot for private events, from weddings to business meetings, with great setup and service that really makes occasions special
  • The atmosphere is spot on for watching live sport or enjoying a quiet pint with mates, giving it that proper local pub vibe
Cons
  • Some food items can be a bit disappointing, like the Steak Sandwich that didn't quite hit the mark for a few visitors
  • There's been a noticeable dip in quality since the management changed, with less visibility from the team and a general downturn in food standards
  • The menu isn't the most exciting out there, so it might not wow you if you're after something more adventurous

Tried this place for the first time despite the mixed reviews. Service was friendly, which was a positive start. I ordered the Haddock and a Steak Sandwich along with some drinks. The Haddock and chips was good — no complaints there. Unfortunately, the Steak Sandwich was disappointing, especially at £14.50. The onions weren’t caramelised as expected, and it was served on standard sliced bread (not bloomer as per the menu), which really brought down the experience. Will not visit again.

Change of management here has definitely seen a decline. Claire and her team were highly visible and always on hand. Have only seen the new guy once or twice and you’d barely know the place has a manager. Whilst the menu has never been terribly inspiring, food quality has seen a downturn in the last few months. Waited nearly 50mins for a cold dry burger at last nights quiz. The usual cheery and enthusiastic staff seem to have been replaced with surly uninterested drones. Despite having table numbers laid out around the function room, big clear font on white placards on a stand, I got to watch my burger sail past as two different inattentive staff members carried around the room searching for our number. Only to ignore me waving at them. It was only when I got up and approached them that they took any notice. But no apology or any vague interest. If it had been worth my effort I’d have complained about the quality of the food. But I wasn’t sure anyone would be bothered enough to make a difference. What once was a great pub, now seems to be just another cog in a corporate profit machine. And for the price you’d expect better. We’ll eat before quizzing going forward.

Came around to this place today to get a few drinks and didn’t expect to be met with such incredible staff. Especially Stan take a great care of me and my friends. Loved the aesthetic of the pub and its menu would definitely recommend for friends and family meeting. We will surely comeback next week.

We celebrated our wedding reception in the Winchester Room at The Turk's Head on Friday 11th April. An absolutely huge thank you to Dafydd and the whole team for making our night everything we had hoped for - a huge party!!! We arrived to find everything set up as we had discussed and looking fabulous. Welcome drinks were poured and ready to go and the food came out exactly when requested. The buffet options were great and the ones we chose were absolutely delicious - all served hot and fresh. The communication from Dafydd throughout the lead up was exceptional with all our questions or requests being answered quickly making the process stress free and enjoyable. We really can't thank you enough and look forward to seeing you all soon. Lily & Charlie x

Profession purpose built outdoor wood extension cabin, with thick waterproof hard-wearing blue material walls, internally heated with both floor seated blowers and ceiling mounted electric heat lamps placed strategically around the cabin to make perfect use of convection physics. Large quantity of 2 gang sockets and large 55" led driven televisions showing numerous sports related games. Staff were great, food was great, very busy on game and other Twickenham event days. Live music.
