About This Pub

Ah, The Turf – it's one of those pubs that really knows how to liven up an evening in Burnley. From the reviews, it sounds like they've put in some solid effort with the refurb, making the inside feel fresh and comfortable, perfect for sinking into a good pint of stout or catching up with mates over karaoke or football. The staff stand out as absolute gems; they're chatty and attentive, going the extra mile to ensure everyone's sorted, which always makes a visit feel more personal. And let's not forget that outdoor area – it's a lovely spot for a breather when things get a bit hectic inside. On the flip side, though, I've got to be straight with you; the prices might raise an eyebrow or two, especially when you can pop next door for the same thing at half the cost. That, combined with the music cranked up so high it leaves your ears buzzing, could put a damper on things if you're after a quieter night. All in all, it's a cracking choice for a fun outing, but maybe plan around the busier events and budget accordingly – that way, you'll make the most of what this place has to offer without any surprises.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always up for a chat and making sure you're having a good time, just like Billy and Josie mentioned in the reviews.
  • It's got a lively atmosphere with fun events like karaoke, football screenings, and even tribute acts, which really make for an enjoyable night out.
  • The outdoor area is a proper treat, especially on a nice evening, giving you a bit of space to relax and enjoy your drink.
  • They serve a decent selection of beers, including good pints of stout, and the pub's been nicely done up inside, feeling fresh and inviting.
Cons
  • Prices can be a bit on the steep side, like nearly a fiver for a pint of Guinness or a quid for a game of pool, which might not sit well if you're watching your wallet.
  • The music and events can get way too loud at times, leaving you with sore ears the next day, as some have found with the tribute nights.
  • The pool table's in need of a bit of upkeep – it's not quite up to scratch, which is a shame for those looking to have a game.

almost a fiver for a pint of guiness? a quid for a game of pool? what, is this london? New owner being greedy much? ill take 4 steps and go next door to the royle dyche where sanity prevails and get the same for half the price.

Really nice boozer, good atmosphere and good space in the pub for football, karaoke etc. nice pool table in the corner (needs re clothing however) the outdoor area is wicked too. In particular Billy behind the bar always offers great service and goes out of his way to make sure we’re happy whenever we go. The default cues for the pool table need replacing, but when available there’s a wicked cue available, this used to be left our regularly but for some reason is now on request…

Great time, music inside and out. Robbie Williams then Queen tributes inside, very good but the speakers were much too loud, couldn't hear anything the day after our ears hurt so much. The selection of acts outside were good and the music level was better. The beer was good and all in the correct and cold glasses.

Was my first time visit and had a good pint of Stout and at the time was the only customer in and was made very welcome by josie behind the bar who chatted nice and freely. Definitely a good place for a pint or two
