About This Pub

Ah, The Oxford Public House – it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a relaxed evening out in Burnley. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this really homely feel, with staff like Laura and Liam who make you feel right at ease, as if you're catching up with friends rather than just popping in for a drink. The beers are spot on, and the prices are fair, so you can enjoy a few without worrying about the tab. Plus, it's been smartly refurbished, giving it a fresh, clean look that adds to the welcoming atmosphere, and it's brilliant for watching sports with all those screens around. On the flip side, it's a tad disappointing that they don't have real ale on tap, which might leave some folks wanting more variety in their pints. Also, with it being closed on a couple of days a week, you might have to plan your visits accordingly, and the lack of a website makes it harder to get the latest scoop. Overall, with a solid 4.5 rating from the crowd, it's well worth a try if you're after a friendly spot for a good time, but keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and go out of their way to make you feel welcome, like chatting with old mates.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers at prices that won't break the bank, perfect for a casual night out.
  • The atmosphere is warm and inviting, especially since it's been all done up nicely – feels fresh and cosy.
  • It's a top spot for catching live sports with plenty of screens, making it ideal for a pint and a match.
Cons
  • It's a bit of a shame they don't offer real ale, which might disappoint those after something more traditional.
  • The pub isn't open every day, so you might find it closed on a couple of days, limiting your options for a spontaneous visit.
  • With no website to check details, it's tricky to plan ahead or see what's on, which could be a minor hassle.

Friendly and welcoming pub on football match day. As an away fan, I felt safe and welcomed into the pub. No real ale which is a shame. Lots of TV screens showing live sport. Highly recommended.
