About This Pub

Ah, The Timberyard – it's one of those pubs in Twickenham that you might stumble upon and think, 'This has character!' From what I've gathered from the chats online, it's got this old-school charm with a great line-up of beers that folks rave about, especially if you're into your cask ales or just fancy a clean pint without any fuss. The staff sound like a highlight; they're described as helpful and cheerful, which always makes a visit more enjoyable, whether you're popping in for a quick one or settling in for the match. It's open most of the day too, from 10am right through to midnight, so it's handy for a casual meet-up. On the flip side, though, it's not all roses – some have mentioned it's a bit on the grubby side, with sticky floors and smells that linger, which could spoil the mood if you're after something spotless. Then there's the pricing; it seems fair normally, but during big events, things can get pricey, and the food situation is a letdown since they partner with the neighbours for meals, leading to burgers that don't quite deliver. All in all, if you're up for a no-nonsense pub experience with mates, it's worth a go, but maybe skip the food and keep expectations realistic for the rest. It's got that 3.8 rating for a reason – solid fun with a few bumps along the way!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are genuinely friendly and always up for a chat, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers, including some top-notch St. Austell cask options that really hit the spot.
  • The pints are served with real care, nice and clean, which is a treat if you're after a proper, well-poured drink.
  • It's a solid spot for sports fans, with a big bar and that classic pub vibe that makes watching the game even better.
Cons
  • The place can feel a bit rough around the edges, with sticky floors and the odd whiff that might put you off your pint.
  • Prices can jump up during big events, like matches, which might leave you feeling a tad short-changed.
  • Food-wise, it's not ideal since they don't have their own kitchen and rely on the pizza place next door, leading to disappointing meals.
  • Overall, it has that lived-in feel that some might find a bit too worn out for comfort.

If cleanliness is next to God, The Timberyard is having a pint with the devil and a kebab for breakfast. This place is not just rough around the edges—it’s sandpaper in pub form. Sticky floors, suspiciously patterned seats, and a smell that could be bottled and sold as “Eau de Lived-In.” But my god, I love it. This is the kind of pub where the beer taps are older than your nan and the carpet has seen more spilled secrets than a confessional booth. 4 Star. Would risk the questionable toilets again.

As someone who's drank many a pint of John smiths, in and around Twickenham. Cleanest pint I've had. Nice to see a bit of old school care with the lines and glasses. Lovely place for a pint or 2

First time I've been to this pub in years. I went to big game 16 and was aware of this pub. Staff were polite enough my drink started at £4.75 but went up to £7.10 for a so called big event obviously no doubt trying to maximise making a profit with a big crowd. No complaints at all.

Visited on the 23/08/2023 If your going here for a meal DON’T it’s a waste of time. The timberyard don’t have a kitchen so they have a partnership with the village pizza next door. The village pizza is obviously only good for pizzas. For some reason they cater burgers for the timberyard. I ordered a burger and it was one of the worst I have had in my life. The burger looks nothing like the photos and on the menu it said it would come with caramelised onionns but the onions were raw not caramelised. To make matters worse the burger was so dry and had zero flavour. Also we had to wait a long time for our food, for bad tasting food. The timberyard is only good for drinks and watching the footy. If you want food stay away.

Great! Biggish bar with a sports inclination. Staff on the bar are gorgeous and happy to help. A range of St. Austell cask on offer plus a load of keg offerings. All is well with the world. Pop in for a visit, you will enjoy.
