About This Pub

Ah, The Cabbage Patch in Twickenham – it's one of those places that really comes alive, especially if you're mad about rugby. Picture this: on match days, it's all about that infectious energy, with crowds spilling in for a pint and a cheer, making it feel like the heart of the action. The food's a proper delight too, with fresh, seasonal twists on classic pub fare that leaves you feeling chuffed. And don't get me started on the drinks; their ales and whiskey collection is top drawer, offering something for every taste. The staff are genuinely friendly, always up for a chat and ensuring everything runs smoothly, which adds to the welcoming vibe. Plus, the beer garden's a nice touch for those balmy evenings. On the flip side, though, the prices can sting a bit, so it's worth keeping an eye on your tab if you're planning a long session. And if you're popping in on a quiet day, it might not have that same spark – more of a relaxed spot than a buzzing hub. All in all, it's a solid choice for a get-together with mates, as long as you go in with the right expectations and perhaps save it for those special occasions.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's an absolute gem for rugby fans, with that electric match-day atmosphere that gets everyone buzzing and makes you feel right in the thick of it.
  • The food is spot on – fresh, seasonal pub classics that are properly satisfying and hit the spot after a long day.
  • They've got a brilliant selection of ales and whiskeys; it's a real treat for anyone who appreciates a good pint or a dram.
  • The staff are always welcoming and helpful, making you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in.
  • There's a lovely beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun or enjoying a quiet chat when the weather's on your side.
Cons
  • Pint prices can be a bit steep, so it might leave you digging deeper into your pockets than you'd like.
  • On non-match days, it can feel a tad quiet or more like a themed spot rather than a cosy, everyday pub.
  • Some folks have mentioned a bit of confusion with name changes or the overall vibe, which might not suit everyone.

Highly recommend it. Great when there are rugby events. #COYQ

The world-famous rugby pub—renamed The Red Rose Patch, because apparently The Cabbage Patch wasn’t confusing or iconic enough. Pint prices now require a small loan. On match days, it’s unbeatable: packed, loud, buzzing. Any other day? It’s like walking into a rugby gift shop that serves beer. Still love it… but only when the rugby’s on.

A quiet day at the Cabbage Patch. A traditional rendezvous for England supporters when the game is at Twickenham. A fine selection of cask ales along with a good selection of keg beers, all there to stop you going thirsty. Excellent service and a fun atmosphere to welcome those braving the grotty wet weather. A good place for a beer
