About This Pub
Ah, The Three Hammers – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its classic British charm and a solid menu that's perfect for gathering with mates or the family. I have to say, the food stands out as a real highlight; whether it's the hearty roasts that folks rave about or the options for kids and veggies, it's clear they've put thought into making everyone feel catered for. That beer garden is just lovely for soaking up the sun with a cold one, and being dog-friendly adds a nice touch for us animal lovers. The staff can be absolute gems too, like when they go the extra mile to make birthdays special or keep drinks flowing smoothly. But, let's keep it real, it's not all pints and cheers – on bustier evenings, you might find the service a tad overwhelmed, with just one person juggling orders for big groups, which can put a damper on things. And prices? Well, some dishes feel a bit steep for what you get, like that burger that didn't quite impress at nearly £16. Overall, it's a decent spot for a relaxed outing, especially if you're nearby and fancy a bite after exploring the area, but I'd suggest checking it out on a quieter day to get the best of what it has to offer. It's got that warm, community feel, but like any pub, it's got its ups and downs – just go in with realistic expectations for a balanced night out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely spot on – think delicious roasts, a great selection for kids, vegetarians, and vegans, and even a special Sunday menu that hits the mark.
-
It's super family-friendly with games for the little ones and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, plus it's dog-friendly so you can bring your furry mate along.
-
They've got a lovely sunny beer garden, perfect for enjoying a pint or a meal outdoors, especially on those nicer days.
-
The staff can be brilliant when they're on form – shout out to folks like Ivonne, Daniel, and Yvonne who've made groups feel really welcome with quick service and a friendly chat.
-
Location's a winner; it's easy to get to near the M1, with free parking, and close to fun spots like St Albans or the Harry Potter Experience for a post-pub adventure.
Cons
-
Service can get a bit stretched during busy times, like when there are large groups, and you might end up waiting with just one person trying to handle everything.
-
Some items feel overpriced, especially things like burgers that don't quite live up to the cost, leaving you wondering if it's worth the spend.
-
Experiences can be hit or miss – while some visits are fantastic, others have had issues with underwhelming presentation or value that dampens the fun.
-
Based on recent feedback, the overall vibe might not always be as consistent as you'd hope, with a few grumbles about the welcome not matching the hype.

We were about 10 people, celebrating the birthday of a friend. Two tables were reserved for lunch in the conservatory. There was another large group of people in the main pub. Only one member of staff was available behind the counter to take both drinks & food orders.
I had sausages & mash from the main menu priced at £12.79. I was shocked & astounded when my order arrived. It looked like a child’s portion. I checked the details against the menu & the size was correct. Others at the table also commented on the small size of my meal.
I was very tempted to complain there & then but didn’t want to upset my birthday friend.
So, don’t order sausages & mash!!!!
I was really surprised with the service, quality and atmosphere. We were in a group with 4 kids and 2 babies and we felt very welcomed. The flavour, the freshness and quality of the food exceed my expectations. The service, a big thank you for Ivonne and Daniel. They made us feel very welcome, we’ll accommodated and always very friendly. I wish a could have a pub like this in my area.
Congratulations for all of you!
Our waitress was called Yvonne she was bang on with bringing our drinks over very very quickly told us about events and nights going on during the week and weekends we will definitely becoming here more and more often the chef is called Alex and omg the food is insanely perfect not a fault this is the 3rd time we have come this week and the food has been consistently good
The decor has had a nice make over which makes it a nicer place to eat and chill and have a few drinks
Well done guys keep up the good work
Was a table of 11 of a Sunday, and we had a lovely time. The food was absolutely delicious the roasts are my all time favourite. The staff couldn't do more for us brought out birthday cake for us, all food arrived hot & lovely. The pub is also really child friendly what i like there is games for the kids to play and they love the kids brownie! We found this pub a while ago and it is now my new favourite place to go , reasonable prices and the app also has some great deals on it! I wish i got the ladies name who works on a sunday long brown hair really friendly always goes above and beyond! So thank you for making our experience great!
Overpriced and Unwelcoming Service
I visited today for a satisfying burger experience, but sadly, it fell short. At nearly £16, I expected a much better quality burger than what I received.
The patty itself was nice, but the overall presentation and value were disappointing.
Adding to the negative experience, the service from the lady serving was quite unpleasant. Her attitude made the dining experience less enjoyable.
Overall: I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for a burger. There are better options available at a more reasonable price with friendlier service. For drinks is great!
