About This Pub

Ah, The Tavern Sports Bar – it's one of those places that just warms you up on a chilly evening in Warrington. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, it's got this brilliant lineup of cask ales that folks rave about, making it a go-to for anyone who appreciates a proper pint. The staff really shine too; they're dead welcoming and make you feel right at home, which is just what you want after a long day. Prices are fair, so you won't feel like you're splashing out unnecessarily, and the overall vibe is spot on for kicking back with friends or catching the latest match. On the flip side, though, there are a few things that could do with a tweak – like how last orders sometimes get called a bit prematurely, which has left some feeling short-changed, especially if you're in the middle of enjoying your round. Plus, there's the odd mention of regulars getting served first, which isn't ideal and might put a dampener on things. All in all, it's a solid choice for a night out, but keeping an eye on those service quirks could make it even better. If you're heading that way, I'd say give it a try and see for yourself – it's got that charm that keeps people coming back.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with a fantastic range of cask ales that really hit the spot for ale enthusiasts.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • It's great value for money, offering solid drinks without breaking the bank.
  • The atmosphere is lively and well-maintained, perfect for enjoying a pint while watching the game or just relaxing.
  • Easy to get to and always a pleasure to pop in for a quick one or a longer session.
Cons
  • There have been a few grumbles about last orders being called a bit early, which can cut the night short unexpectedly.
  • Occasionally, it seems like regulars get preferential treatment, which might leave others feeling a tad overlooked.

Good range of beers but spoiled by bar staff who rang last orders at 10.30 watched as 15 of our group left and then served a regular in front of us at 10.59.Poor especially when we had asked her where we could get one more pint.
