About This Pub

Ah, Bier & Twist in Lancaster – what a find! I've been looking over the reviews, and it seems like a right gem for a night out. The food really steals the show; folks are raving about the juicy steaks cooked to perfection, those loaded fries that hit the spot, and the cocktails that are not only delicious but also come with some great deals, like mix-and-match offers. It's all about that good value too, which is always a winner when you're out with mates. The service sounds spot on as well – the team there are super helpful and go the extra mile, whether it's sorting out tables for a big crowd or making sure everyone's needs are met with a smile. And the place itself has this cosy, fancy feel with those original wooden beams on the ceiling, making it feel welcoming and a bit special. On the flip side, though, it does have its drawbacks; a few people mentioned it gets pretty loud, even upstairs, with the music from downstairs causing vibrations that make it hard to hear each other over a meal. So, if you're after a quiet catch-up, it might not be ideal, but for a fun, energetic evening with good grub and drinks, I'd say it's well worth popping in. All in all, it's got that balance of being a proper local favourite without being overly polished – just a solid choice for a good time in the city centre.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – juicy steaks, loaded fries, and delicious cocktails that offer great value for money.
  • Service is top-notch; the staff are incredibly accommodating, whether you're in a large group or need extras like a high chair for little ones.
  • The atmosphere is lovely and cosy, with a fancy interior featuring original wooden beams that really add to the charm.
Cons
  • It can get quite loud, especially upstairs, with music vibrations making it tricky to have a proper chat over dinner.

Smart and cosy restaurant in the city centre. Food and service were excellent. Steak was juicy and cooked perfectly. Chicken burger with maple glaze and pesto dressing is a highlight

It was quite loud, despite being upstairs, which made it difficult to talk at times and you can feel the vibration of the music downstairs, but the food was good and the table service was good. I'd come again. We had booked a table for a large group of us, so it was really good they could accommodate us and the portion sizes were huge!

Living in Lancaster for 3 years and never saw this walking around the city. Saw the ad for new year party and booked tables. Really good atmosphere. We went to upstairs restaurant. They brought high chair for our little one. Had soup, loaded fries and steak. Really lovely service and food. Reasonable price compared to location, quality and ambience.

We cannot recommend bier and twist enough! We visit on work/uni trip every few months and continue to look forward to our dinner here, the two young ladies that served us were amazing and so accommodating to our excessive bill splitting needs! Food is incredible and such good value for money. We will definitely be back!

Relatively new bar in Lancaster, next to TkMaxx. The bar/restaurant has a fancy interior with original structure with the wooden beams on the ceiling. They have a good cocktail menu, they were on a 241 offer. I had the cherry bakewell, and it was delicious. (Cocktails can be mix and matched) Food came well presented. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, it was very nice and the bacon was very good quality, thick and not too salty. You get two thick burgers, in a pretzel style bun. I think the price of £15 is standard, but maybe onion rings or coleslaw could be a beneficial side to it. My partner had a beef brisket pie, he thought it wasn't bad, but thought for the price of it, it could have been better, as he said it wasn't very flavourful. This came presented well, there's an option of either mash or chips and it comes with a jug of gravy. Staff are nice, friendly and go out of their way to make sure everything is ok, quick service too, you don't wait very long for your food or drinks. Lots of seating in here, so finding a table shouldn't be too hard. I'd go again and try out other cocktails and the pizzas
