About This Pub
Ah, The Strawberry – what a gem it is in the heart of Newcastle. I've got to say, it's got this really homely feel that just draws you in, with all that fab Newcastle United stuff on the walls making it a must-visit for any footy fan. The staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, and at these inexpensive prices, you can easily settle in for the evening without worrying about the tab. It's cosy and old-school, which is brilliant if you're after that authentic pub experience, but if football isn't your thing, it might come across as a bit one-track. Plus, without an official website, it's not the easiest to get the lowdown beforehand, and those operating hours look a smidge confusing, so best to confirm. All in all, it's a solid spot for a good laugh and a pint with mates, and with ratings as high as 4.6, it's clear most folks leave with a smile.

Gordie's spiritual home, as far as pubs go. Warm welcoming with loads of fab memorabilia to gaze at while supping your pint.
Top class pub. Great atmosphere a must for any Newcastle fan
Great way to escape to another time in this old watering house. Newcastle United paraphernalia is the mainstay of decoration for obvious reasons, but the pub is still old school for an area that is modernising.
Fun fact: apparently it was so named for the strawberry plantations that used to be near it. Nuns from the local convent use to grow strawberries for strawberry wine...
Nice pub next to the st James Park. Very kind staff, cosy atmosphere
Finally I plucked up the courage to step over the threshold onto the hallowed ground of The Strawberry. It was my birthday when I went in there and I was determined to make the most of it but for the few while I spent looking around and imagining all the legendary names that had also set foot in there and that reinforced my belief that this wasn't just a normal pub this is as iconic as St James' Park itself. Got chatting to a couple of friendly locals which was nice as I'm not usually that sociable as back home I don't go out to pubs on my own but I felt it was a case of When in Rome and I threw myself into having a laugh and a chat and sampling the local ale one in particular being called Wor Beer or something like that which wasn't my usual taste but I do like to sample local food and drinks when I visit somewhere. Thankyou to the bar staff and the awesome couple sat near the bar who I had a laugh with you guys absolutely made my birthday very special. The Strawberry physically might be a small building but the fact is it's a giant on the local landscape and a very important part of geordie life.
