About This Pub
Ah, The Starving Rascal – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away in Stourbridge with that warm, inviting atmosphere you don't find everywhere these days. I've got to say, the beers are a real highlight; they're pouring some excellent Black Country Ales that are fresh, full of character, and served by staff who genuinely know their onions – it's like chatting with a mate who's got all the insider tips. The traditional setup, with its log fire and pub games, makes it ideal for a laid-back evening, and the beer garden is a lovely spot to enjoy a pint when the weather's on your side. Plus, those bar snacks like cobs and pork pies are spot on for a quick bite without fuss. On the flip side, though, the toilets being downstairs could be a hassle if you're not up for the stairs, and parking might leave you scratching your head on busier nights. Still, it's turned itself around from what I've heard, with a bright and airy feel after some smart renovations, and it's accommodating for families or even popping in with the dog. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out – just keep those little practicalities in mind, and you'll have a cracking time.

They've got tempting bar snacks like cobs and pork pies that pair wonderfully with a pint, and the pub's layout is welcoming and well-kept.
-
It's conveniently located near the bus and railway, with parking available, and it's dog-friendly and allows children until 7pm, so it's versatile for different groups.
Cons

The toilets are downstairs, which might be a bit of a trek if you're not feeling steady on your feet.
-
Parking can be a bit of a nuisance, so you might end up walking a short distance if it's busy.
-
There's some uncertainty about disabled access; while it's listed, one visit didn't spot it, so it might not be as straightforward as hoped.

Great beers, black country ales of the highest quality served in a traditional pub setting. Bar staff have a good understanding of the beers on offer so the service is excellent.
Had the Black Country Ales Brewery makeover with a fine selection of cask ales and some very tempting bar snacks.
Brilliant beer garden, excellent pub layout and parking available locally.
Had a great sausage roll and pork pie to accompany my beer which was brilliantly kept fresh and crisp.
Bus stop right outside which doubled up as a smoking shelter 🤣

Very nice beer garden.
parking bit of pain.
Didn't see any disabled access/toilets, so I can't comment on this topic.
Food. Didn't eat here, so , again - can't comment.
Lived here 49 years and never ventured in due to its reputation, however, having seen the renovations being done through lockdowns I decided to give it a go this weekend .... I wasn't disappointed! Pleasant seating arrangements, bright and airy. Owner Pete and bar lady, Ann, were very friendly and helpful. Walk-ins welcome with full table service. Good selection of ales and gins, quart selection of ales also on offer. They serve cobs which looked lovely and if anyone remembers the old skittle alley that used to be downstairs, well, this has been turned into an Ale bar with a definite authentic Peaky look and feel. I will definitely turn soon.
