About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Star Inn – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a proper British night out. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a real highlight; people are raving about the pub classics, daily specials, and those incredible homemade cheesecakes that leave you wanting more. The staff seem like absolute gems, always ready with a smile and that personal touch, whether it's sorting out a birthday surprise or just making you feel welcome. And at those prices, it's a steal – perfect for catching up with friends without breaking the bank. The atmosphere is spot on too, with live music, quizzes, and even a darts board for a bit of fun, and it's great that they welcome dogs, so you can bring the whole family along. On the flip side, it's very much a traditional pub at heart, which means it might not wow you if you're looking for something a bit trendier or fancy. Plus, with doors shutting at 11 PM, it's more about those relaxed evenings rather than pulling an all-nighter. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone in the area wanting good grub, good company, and that genuine pub feel – I'd say give it a go if you're nearby!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty pub classics, delicious daily specials, and those homemade cheesecakes that are just to die for, as one visitor put it.
-
The staff are so warm and welcoming; it's like popping round to a mate's house, with folks like Nicky and Emily going the extra mile, even for special occasions like birthdays.
-
Prices are really reasonable – you can get a couple of drinks and meals for under £20, making it a brilliant spot for a budget-friendly night out.
-
It's got a lovely, relaxed atmosphere with regular live entertainment, quiz nights, and sports on the telly, plus it's dog-friendly, which is always a plus for us animal lovers.
-
The pub's been freshly refurbished and offers extras like a new darts area, making it feel welcoming and full of character in the heart of Great Wyrley.
Cons
-
It has a traditional pub vibe, so if you're after something more modern or upscale, it might feel a bit straightforward and not quite your cup of tea.
-
Closing at 11 PM means it's more suited to early evenings rather than late-night sessions, which could be a shame if you're hoping for a proper all-nighter.

WOW! What amazing food and the cheesecake...never tasted anything quite like it, just delicious!
Beautiful place. Nicky and Emily were so friendly and welcoming. Even brought my mom her dessert out with a little candle on for her birthday.
Definitely recommend.
Went with friends for first time in hope that it would be good as we live very local and we were not disappointed. Sat in bar for pre drinks and then went in to dinner which was lovely Staff were a delight and couldn’t be more helpful. The singer was spot on not too loud and had a lovely voice. Great evening and great atmosphere. Well done e we will definitely be back

Went this afternoon since the recent refurb and new owners. The new menu is great, the food is absolutely amazing even better than before which we thought would be hard to beat! The new owners are really lovely and we wish them all the best with the pub! We will be back very shortly for more amazing food, drink and quality service.
First time visiting this pub and it definitely won't be the last. The staff are absolutely lovely and welcoming and the food was amazing. There is so much on the menu that I want to try, so we will be going back soon to try some more dishes. We had two drinks and two meals for under £20!
