About This Pub
Ah, Olde Wyrley Hall – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a hidden gem in the heart of Great Wyrley. I've got to say, what really stands out is how well they handle events; whether it's a wedding reception with a delicious two-course meal or a surprise birthday bash with fresh buffets, the food is always spot on and leaves you feeling satisfied. The staff are an absolute delight too – so approachable and efficient, they make the whole experience feel personal and enjoyable, like chatting with old mates behind the bar. Prices are sensible as well, making it easy on the wallet for a night out. On the flip side, the hours do start a bit late for some, so if you're keen on an early pint, you might have to plan around that. And while it's perfect for groups, the location might not be ideal if you're travelling from further afield, plus it can get lively during events, which might not suit everyone looking for a quiet corner. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good time with friends, offering that balance of fun and reliability that makes pub visits memorable.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely spot on – whether it's the carvery, afternoon tea, or a buffet for an event, it's all fresh, tasty, and well-prepared, making it a real treat for a get-together.
-
The staff are so friendly and attentive; they go out of their way to make sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the warm, welcoming vibe.
-
It's brilliant value for money, with affordable drinks like pints at around £3 to £4.50, and the overall experience feels like a proper bargain without skimping on quality.
-
They've got a great range of events and functions sorted, from birthdays and weddings to bingo nights, making it a versatile spot for all sorts of occasions.
-
The atmosphere is lovely, especially for celebrations – it's got that cosy, community feel that makes you want to come back for more.
Cons
-
The opening hours kick off quite late in the afternoon most days, so if you're after a spot for a quick lunch or early drink, you might find yourself waiting until 4pm.
-
Being a bit out in Great Wyrley, it could be a trek if you're not local, and on busy event days, things might get a tad crowded without much notice.
-
While the food and service shine, the drinks selection doesn't get much mention, so it might not have the widest range to suit every taste.

Our son and his beautiful bride had their wedding reception and evening here on Saturday 24th May. We cannot praise the venue enough, the 2 course meal for 50 guests was excellent quality, freshly cooked with fabulous service by the friendly staff. The evening buffet was excellent too, again high quality and plentiful. All in all a fantastic venue, great atmosphere, friendly staff, a lovely family run pub/ venue.
A big thank you to Carl and his family and staff for a well organised, professional service all for a very reasonable price.
We highly recommend Olde Wyrley Hall as a fabulous venue.

We had a surprise 80th Birthday party for my mom .... the buffet food was great, nice and fresh and good quality.... highly recommend this function room, bar staff friendly too
We went to a 40th Birthday party. We were pleasantly suprised at how nice it was. Food was lovely, great atmosphere. Staff were really nice. Price wise it was £3 for a pint of draft coke and £4.50 for a pint of Guinness.
Attended as a large group of 30+ for afternoon tea. Excellent service and value. The sandwiches were so fresh and there wasn't any scrimping on the fillings!! Dietary needs were catered for too.
