About This Pub

Ah, The St George's Tavern – it's one of those gems in Pimlico that really captures the heart of a traditional London pub, with its rich history as the 'Godfather of the music hall'. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are just fantastic; they're enthusiastic and make you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick bite or settling in for the evening. The food stands out too – those pies and a fresh pint are spot on, and it's brilliant how they cater to different needs, like allergies, without any fuss. It's a welcoming spot for catching up with mates or even a family outing, and the atmosphere is cosy and full of character. On the flip side, though, not everything's perfect; a few folks mentioned the nachos being a bit soggy, so you might want to skip those and go for the reliable options. Prices can sting a tad more than your average pub, but for the quality and experience, it feels worth it most of the time. All in all, if you're in the area, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening – just keep expectations realistic and you'll have a great time!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, attentive, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome, like chatting with old mates.
  • The food is a real treat, especially those hearty pies and a cracking pint of cider; it's proper British pub grub that hits the spot after a long day.
  • It's got that lovely historic charm, being one of London's original music hall spots, which makes for a unique and cosy atmosphere to relax in.
  • They handle dietary needs really well, with staff taking extra care for allergies, so it's a safe bet for everyone.
  • The place is spotlessly clean, right down to the washrooms, and it's a great spot to unwind with friends or family in the heart of Pimlico.
Cons
  • Some dishes, like the nachos, can be a bit disappointing – they were soggy in one go, so maybe stick to the classics.
  • Prices are on the higher side compared to other local pubs, which might make you think twice if you're watching the pennies.

Imagine, after a 3 hour coach ride this is the heaven we stumble into. The staff was amazing and kind enough to let us use the (lovely, clean, extra choice of handsoap) washroom for free, to which we decided to stay and eat anyways. Best cider of my life (to be fair I live in Canada), and amazing camembert plate, rabbit pie, and basically everything else. The only mistake we made concerning this place is not coming back for dinner. Instead we visited another pub, Viktoria Taps, which served obviously frozen cooked food that I could've gotten from a grocery store for much cheaper, yet somehow they have higher reviews on google.

The food and service is really good. I had the chicken and mushroom pie which came with a side of potato mash and some steamed carrots and broccoli. The nachos were very soggy and I would not recommend it. Peach Iced Tea was on point😊 The prices are a bit high as compared to other pubs but seeing where this is located it seems reasonable.

This was our last meal in London! It was absolutely fantastic! The manager, Zed, was amazing. He sat us quickly and was very enthusiastic! He was zipping around; taking care of everyone with the best attitude. The food was out of this world. I highly recommend their pies and a Neck Oil IPA!

I could not have chosen a more perfect place to dine during my time in London. I loved it so much that I ate there three nights in a row. Erica was fantastic and saved me a table everyday! I felt so welcomed and it was as if I was at home. Last night was my last evening in London and I was very sad to say goodbye to St. George’s and Erica. But I will be back soon!

I cannot eat wheat and have some other allergies. Our server was so lovely and she made sure to be careful with the kitchen, and she recommended what her family member would order who also needs special attention. My partner had the brisket pie, which came with roasted carrot. Our food was great, the overall care was really appreciated, and all in all we had a great evening. The pub is bustling and busy, so it’s not a quiet or romantic atmosphere- it’s a fun and lively and very ‘British pub’. So if you want that authentic experience, it will definitely do!
