About This Pub
Ah, The Spotted Cow – it's one of those pubs that really warms your heart with its solid offerings, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a real highlight; think hearty portions of traditional favourites that are tasty and won't break the bank, plus they've nailed it with options for those with allergies, like gluten-free and nut-free choices, which is a godsend for families or anyone with specific needs. The atmosphere is just right too – not one of those loud, impersonal places, so you can enjoy a proper chat over a pint of decent beer. And let's not forget the handy parking out back, making it a breeze to visit. On the flip side, though, service can be a bit of a letdown; some folks have mentioned waiting ages just to get their order in or for simple dishes to arrive, which is a shame because it takes the shine off an otherwise brilliant spot. Overall, it's got that 4.6 rating for a reason – it's a gem if you're after good food and a friendly feel, but maybe plan for a relaxed outing rather than a quick stop.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, with a great selection of pub favourites that are reasonably priced and come in generous portions.
-
They've got brilliant options for dietary needs, like a nut-free kitchen and loads of gluten-free choices, which makes it super welcoming for everyone.
-
The service is generally warm and attentive, especially when it comes to handling allergies – you'll feel right at home.
-
It's got a lovely atmosphere; not too noisy, so you can actually chat without shouting, and there's decent beer on tap to boot.
-
Convenient parking at the back makes it easy to pop in without the hassle.
Cons
-
Service can be painfully slow at times, with waits of up to 45 minutes just to place an order, which really puts a dampener on the experience.
-
While the food's great, that lag in getting it to the table might leave you a bit frustrated on busier days.

Food menu is good, reasonably priced, with a nut free kitchen and a lot of gluten free options. Sadly the speed of service was totally opposite, a 45 min wait for orders to be taken, and then the wait for simple sandwiches ordered was about the same again. Really let the entire place down badly.
Went for Sunday dinner. My family have a load of awkward allergies at the moment due to breastfeeding our 8 month old. They catered to every allergy without any issues and made us feel welcome. Amazing service and the food was really delicious. Couldn't fault a thing.
The pub looks ace as well, sports on, good atmosphere. Deffo recommended.
Good portions and delicious food. Service was great. Decent choice of beer. Parking at the back.
We had the most fantastic meal here.
My daughter is coeliac..75% of the menu is available gluten free.
Gluten free garlic bread was beautiful.
Gluten free hot chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream.
Gluten free burger with bacon, onion rings and chips.
Starter, main ,dessert and coffee all gorgeous.
Would highly recommend.
Very well priced menu and excellent customer service. Very friendly.
Well worth a visit .
Traditional small pub with a small restaurant. But really performs like a big hitter! Some larger pubs can be noisy and impersonal, not this one though. No music making everyone talk louder to be heard, so the noise level was perfect. As for the food..traditional pub favourites, huge portions, totally tasty and served beautifully. Price? Two courses cost us £20 per head..so great value for money. Finally, the staff were very friendly and even had some banter. Will be coming back!
