I visited The Sportsman last Friday (mother's day weekend) I took my mam for lunch along with our little dog. I had small fish and chips with a lovely glass of red wine and my mam had the homemade corned beef pie with a lovely white wine. The fish was big for it being a small portion and delicious, chips were perfectly cooked I thoroughly enjoyed it. The homemade corned beef pie was unreal also and the service was great. The 2 lovely ladies who served us were very pleasant and polite they looked after us well. Our dog wasn't the only dog there and the atmosphere was lovely also. This was my first time visiting the pub, my mam has been a few times for food previously and this was her choice of outing. I would definitely go back and highly recommend for food and drinks. Nice to have homemade food served, none of the microwave grub you get from alot of bars these days. The Sportsman pub is very traditional, relaxing and very clean with high standards and a really good vibe. I don't normally do reviews but I believe they deserved this 5 star. The food was absolutely delicious and one of the best food I've eaten in a pub. Reasonably priced and great friendly staff . Definitely worth coming down

Well, what to say really? Whatever I say, the owner will come back with a despicable response that he went out of his way to cater for our table! What a disgrace!! We walked in and instantly seen the staff were unhappy after clearly being told off for some reason or another! Does not make for a great atmosphere! Ordered our food which was absolutely disgusting! Sent it back and asked for it to be replaced where I was told no!! I asked to speak to the manager and got told he won't speak with me, a paying customer!!!! Let's just say we 100% won't be back, under new management! I think environmental health need to be informed as reading some of the reviews they're incapable of catering for allergies, I mean every allergy can be life threatening but the poor family were refused!! I wait the very formal, untrue response to this!

Great, cosy pub. Lovely staff and comfy seating areas. The hot pork scratchings off the bar are a must as a snack with a drink! Food looks great and definitely keen to try soon!

Exterior belies the beautiful interior decor! The staff are wonderfully, warm, helpful and welcoming. The range of food is impressive. The quality, service and value for money are all 5-star. I only wish this was my local pub; I'd be supporting it at every opportunity. I'm already looking forward to a return visit at some point, and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
