About This Pub

Ah, the Alexandra – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles the moment you walk in. From what I've gathered, the staff are an absolute delight, always on hand with a smile and speedy service, whether you're catching the big match or just nipping in for a quick one. It's brilliant for sports fans, with loads of screens broadcasting everything from football to horse racing, and the atmosphere really picks up during games. Plus, there's plenty to keep you entertained, like the pool and darts, which seem to draw in a fun crowd of regulars. The drinks deals are spot on too – affordable and varied, especially with their summer specials that everyone's raving about. And it's so welcoming to dogs; I love that touch, makes it feel even more homely. On the flip side, it's mostly just bar snacks on offer, so if you're hoping for a hearty meal, you might be a tad disappointed and have to make do or pop out for something else. Also, it can be a bit on the quiet side sometimes, like on a Friday when you might expect more buzz, but that's not always a bad thing if you're after a peaceful chat. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening in North Shields – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, especially for the community events; it's got that genuine local charm that makes you want to come back.

I am a little bias, but apart from Chirton Club, the service in the Alexander is next to none. Sports, Pool,Darts, and all better prices than most pubs, and bars. Was very busy with the Match, but the service was great, and nobody had a long wait, in fact we were being served faster than we could drink. Well Done David, Tania, and Sharon. And thanks to Christine & Dave for coming back and saving the Pub, after the lovely Wendy & David Retired xx

Interesting pub. Fanatics on the pool table. Good atmosphere with regular darts players. Good selection of beers and had a live singer when we were there on Friday night. Not that busy for Friday.
