About This Pub
Ah, The Sow Bar & Grill – it's one of those places that really grows on you once you're inside. Picture this: a historic pub in West Bromwich with cosy nooks for a quiet drink and a spacious restaurant area that's spot on for families or groups of friends catching up over a meal. The menu's a real treat, mixing up authentic Indian and Nepalese flavours with good old English classics, and from what I've heard from others, dishes like the Chicken Tikka Masala or the Mixed Grill are fresh, packed with quality ingredients, and just bursting with taste – no wonder so many rave about it. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly staff who often go the extra mile to suggest what you'd like, making it feel like a proper local hangout. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; service can vary a bit, with some experiences feeling a tad rushed or inconsistent, like plates not being cleared quickly or staff needing a hand with training. Still, with high marks overall and a buzz from recent visitors, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're after solid grub and a relaxed setting – just pop in with low expectations for the finer details and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – fresh, full of flavour, and a brilliant mix of Indian, Nepalese, and classic English dishes that always hit the mark.
-
It's got a warm, welcoming vibe with separate areas for the pub and a family-friendly restaurant, making it perfect for a casual pint or a proper meal with mates.
-
The staff can be really helpful and friendly, especially when they're recommending dishes or making you feel at home.
-
With a solid 4.4 rating from plenty of folks, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a good time, and it's easy to see why it's a favourite for locals.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit hit or miss; some staff seem like they could do with a bit more training, like clearing plates promptly or being consistently attentive.
-
The place might look small and unassuming from the outside, which could put some off, and ordering at the bar isn't always the smoothest experience.
-
It's meant to be open most evenings, but do check ahead as there might be the odd hiccup with timings or availability.

Came here after seeing this place on first table. Service was ok could be better. Some of the staff are hit and miss and need extra training like taking plates away etc. the food however was great. A definite highlight. Tasted fresh with good quality ingredients. Even the masala used was good quality as the next day you don't get the dodgy stomach like other mix grill pubs. The curries were superb, the taste and flavour of the fish curry and butter paneer was to die for. definitely recommend coming here for food.
Banging food🥘🍗 every time I've eaten in or take away. Definitely recommend to anyone who've not been there 👌
Had a fantastic evening down at the sow bar n grill, food was amazing as well as the hospitality. The staff were well informed on what dishes to try and pointing out what would be accommodating to our taste buds. I would like to thank Shiva who served us, who was an absolute sweetheart in accommodating us. Will be back very shortly to dine in again.

We had an amazing time at The Sow Bar and Grill! For starters, we tried the prawns, fish, and mutton – all of which were fantastic. I'd rate the prawns as the absolute standout (1st), followed by the fish (2nd), and then the mutton (3rd). Each dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection.
For the main course, we opted for the mutton, soya, and naan. The mutton was tender and delicious, and the soya was a great vegetarian option. The naan was fresh and the perfect accompaniment.
Highly recommend for a great meal and excellent service! Will definitely be returning.
First time visit with the gang from work. When you walk in it looks very small and like a typical pub bar then they show you to the eating area which is large and spacious with large screen TVs showing sport
The menu is mainly Indian food but excellent prices had to order food at the bar maybe table service could be better but food came quickly. Was hot and very tasty service was good and came with a smile. Would go again for surel
