About This Pub
Ah, The Southcliffe Hotel – it's one of those places in Bridlington that feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the staff really shine through with their friendly chats and helpful nature, making every visit feel warm and personal. The food's a highlight too; imagine tucking into a hearty Sunday roast or a homemade meal that's packed with flavour and served up quickly – and at a price that won't have you reaching for your wallet in panic. It's got a fantastic location right in the heart of things, perfect for a relaxed evening out. But, let's be straight, it's not without its flaws. Some bits look a tad worn and could use a spruce-up, and if you've got any food allergies or prefer veggie options, you might find yourself a bit stuck, as they don't seem to go out of their way for that. Plus, the rooms aren't quite up to scratch for a comfy stay, with small beds and shared facilities that might not be everyone's cup of tea. All in all, if you're after a no-fuss spot for good grub and a chat, it's worth checking out, but maybe keep an eye on those details to avoid any surprises.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always going the extra mile to make you feel welcome – it's like chatting with old mates behind the bar.
-
The food is spot on, with homemade meals using quality produce; think delicious breakfasts, excellent Sunday roasts, and a good variety on the menu that won't break the bank.
-
Great value for money, especially for family meals or a quick bite – plenty of positive nods to the portions and quick service.
-
It's in a prime spot in central Bridlington, making it easy to pop in after a stroll along the seafront.
-
They've got some thoughtful touches for accessibility, like helping with wheelchairs, which is really appreciated.
Cons
-
The place can feel a bit run down and dirty in spots, which takes away from the charm of this traditional spot.
-
Not the best for anyone with food allergies or if you're veggie or vegan – options are limited, and it seems they don't always cater to those needs.
-
Rooms could do with an update; beds might be too small for some, and not having a toilet in the room isn't ideal, especially with kids in tow.
-
There have been occasional slip-ups with food, like an off-tasting dish, which might leave you a bit disappointed.
-
It's got that old-school pub feel, which is lovely for some, but kids aren't allowed in the bar area, so it might not suit families all the time.

Was a very lovely place to stay the rooms was clean but could do with updating . The double bed was abit too small for me and my partner and was we was getting frisky in the bed it was moving and the head board was banning against the wall next morning noticed a old man coming out of his room and smiled at me and winked think he had a good night listening to me and my partner having fun coz I can tell you she did ride me like a Blackpool donkey. The staff was wonderful and the food was fantastic
Visiting a relative and went in yesterday for Sunday lunch. Very reasonably priced the beef was melt in the mouth perfect. Hubby could of ate a bit more but portion was more then enough for me. Will definitely eat there again
No reception as such, had to ring a bell that I didn't see at first, room was clean and spacious, bath with over bath shower and sink within the same room as your bed. There is no toilet in the room but plenty on the landing outside the room, not ideal if travelling with a small child. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was nice. Staff that I did encounter were pleasant.
The hotel has its own bar and reasonably priced restaurant.
The location was great for the spa or the beach.
Excellent hotel.
We meet weekly with the bikes for a social evening and meal.
Food is homemade and excellent. Lots of choice and have never had anything I didn’t love.
The service is great too. The young man on the bar is very friendly and helpful.
I will start with wow, been recommended here by a friend. Walked in and wasn’t sure what to expect as it’s a very old school traditional pub. We had our 4 kids with us so are restricted to the back room as kids aren’t allowed in the bar area which is perfectly fine.
The barmaid was very polite and welcoming. I asked for a roast dinner with all 3 meats, beef, chicken and pork. The missus and 2 kids opted for roast beef then the 2 youngest, cottage pie.
The portions weren’t massive but substantial all round.
The meats just melted in the mouth and everything tasted fresh.
The chips which came with the cottage pie were homemade and were lovely.
Very very happy and will be making this our new choice for a roast dinner
