About This Pub
Ah, The Slip Inn – what a gem it is in York! From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, it's one of those pubs that just gets it right with its top-notch selection of real ales, ciders, and gins; you can tell they've put real thought into curating drinks that'll please any crowd. The inside is all cosy and inviting, like sinking into your favourite armchair after a long day, and that outdoor yard is a real treat for when the weather's on your side. The staff are the cherry on top, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels welcome, which really adds to the relaxed vibe – ideal for catching up with mates or even watching a bit of sport. On the flip side, it's tucked away a bit from the hustle of the main areas, so it might take a short stroll to get there, and if food's your main draw, well, it doesn't seem to be their strong suit; you'd probably be better off grabbing a bite elsewhere first. All in all, it's a solid spot for a pint and good company, but keep those little niggles in mind for the full picture – honest, it's worth a visit if you're after that authentic pub feel without the crowds.

Cons

It's a tad out of the way from the busier parts of York, so you might need to plan a bit of a walk if you're coming from the city centre.

Hidden gem, just minutes off the busier Bishopthorpe Rd area. Punches above its weight when it comes to the selection of real ales, ciders, and gins.
Nice outdoor yard hidden out the back
We didn't eat there so cannot comment on the food. It is a great little pub. Cosy on the inside with a pleasant beer yarden at the back. Friendly staff create a warm, relaxed atmosphere 😎
Making my first ever visit here. Madge spotted it in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Took about 20 minutes to walk here from the city centre. A lovely two room community pub with a great real ale selection. Eight beers to chose from on our visit. Had a pint of Anthology Best Bitter. Very good. Well worth finding. Large rear outside patio.
Absolutely loved The Slip Inn in York! The atmosphere was fantastic – lively and welcoming, with live rugby on, which added to the vibe. The beer lineup was top-notch, with everything served perfectly. The staff and fellow patrons were incredibly friendly, making it feel like a home away from home. Can’t wait to return next time I’m in the city. Highly recommend!
Such a fun pub tucked into a quiet neighborhood. Watched a Wales vs Poland EURO qualifier in a Welsh broadcast, which was wild, while enjoying a pint of Boltmaker. Warm, friendly place and a great barkeeper.
