About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Seven Stars – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Rugby. You'd love the way they've nailed the real ale scene; they've got a cracking selection that's always well-kept, and it's clear the folks behind it are dead chuffed about it. The rugby memorabilia everywhere adds such a fun, nostalgic touch, especially if you're into the sport. Then there are the homemade snacks – those Scotch eggs are legendary, and they pair brilliantly with a pint. Events like quizzes and festivals keep things buzzing, and the courtyard garden is a lovely spot to relax with friends or even your dog. On the flip side, it's pretty traditional, so if you're after a place with TVs for the footie, you might be out of luck in the back bar. Also, with kids only allowed until 7:30pm, it might not be the best for family nights that run late. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up; I'd say pop in if you're in the area – you won't be disappointed, but it's good to know what you're getting into for a balanced night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The real ales are absolutely spot on – they've got a fantastic selection, all well-kept, and it's clear they're passionate about them, making it a must-visit for any ale enthusiast.
  • The rugby theme is brilliant; the pub's decked out with loads of memorabilia, which really brings the spirit of the game to life, especially if you're a fan.
  • Homemade snacks like those Scotch eggs and sausage rolls are a real treat – they're tasty and add a lovely personal touch to the experience.
  • It's got a warm, community vibe with friendly staff and events like quizzes and festivals that make it feel lively and welcoming.
  • The courtyard garden is a hidden gem, perfect for a quiet drink outside, and it's dog-friendly too, which is great if you're out with your furry friend.
Cons
  • The back bar is TV-free, so if you're hoping to catch a match, you might find it a bit too quiet for that.
  • Children are only welcome until 7:30pm, which means it might not suit families looking for a later evening out.
  • As a traditional pub, it could feel a tad old-school for those after something more modern or trendy.

A great traditional real ale pub. Well worth a visit if you're visiting Rugby. The Byatts 6% light coloured cask beer was a winner!

What an absolute treat! I was on hour number seven of train cancellations, bus replacements, journey adjustments and I asked (tom) the station assistant where I could have a pint while I waited for the next connection and 7 ⭐ was the recommendation. My backside had barely touched a seat before I was greeted by a local gentleman and honestly, I would have gladly missed another train if my wait was spent there. So refreshing. 😁

Exemplary service and reasonable prices can be applied to all the good pubs in Rugby, it has been a great day out. Choice of 8 cask and 3 craft ales in this shrine to Rugby Union. Weekly pub quizzes, live music and a pie & pint offer are here to tempt you in. Make this your first or last calling point if travelling in by 🚂, the barman will even point you in the right direction help you on your way 👍🏻
