About This Pub

Ah, The Rupert Brooke – it's one of those dependable Wetherspoons pubs that you can always count on for a laid-back evening or a bite to eat without spending a fortune. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the place really shines with its welcoming vibe; it's spacious, clean, and full of friendly faces, whether you're popping in with the family or just for a quick drink. The staff seem to be on the ball, making sure everything runs smoothly, and there's a good selection of food that's spot on for budget-conscious types. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – some folks have mentioned it getting a bit too chilly inside, which can put a dampener on things, and the noise level can ramp up, especially with a mix of groups around. Then there's the food; while it's generally alright, there have been a few slip-ups where dishes didn't live up to expectations, like orders not quite matching what's on the menu or meals that feel a tad underwhelming. Overall, if you're after an affordable, no-fuss spot in Rugby, it's worth a visit, but maybe keep your expectations in check for the finer details – it's a solid choice for a casual night out, as long as you're prepared for the occasional off note.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is welcoming and buzzing, making it a great spot for a casual get-together or even a quick stop during travels.
  • Staff are friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile, which really adds to the relaxed vibe.
  • It's spacious, clean, and bright, with plenty of room for families or groups, plus a handy car park and outdoor area for when the weather's nice.
  • Food options are affordable and offer a nice mix of classic dishes, perfect if you're after good value without breaking the bank.
  • Opens early and stays late, so it's reliable for a pint or a meal at any time of the day.
Cons
  • The room can get quite cold, which might leave you reaching for your coat even on a meal out.
  • It can be pretty loud at times, mixing families and adults, so it's not always the quietest spot for a chat.
  • Food quality varies – sometimes it's not quite what you ordered, like coffees going cold fast or dishes not matching the description.
  • Service is okay and relatively quick for clearing up, but it doesn't go above and beyond, so expectations should be kept realistic.
  • A few reviews mentioned basic issues with food prep, like a disappointing burger, showing it's not always hitting the mark.

Cold room and very loud. There was a mix of families with kids and adults. Ordered coffees to start but they went cold quickly. Had to put our coats back on to eat. Service was ok. Relatively quick to tidy up but nothing more. Food advertised wasn't what came. Ordered pasta alfredo with added chicken. The pasta is meant to come with sundried tomatoes and spinach, but instead arrived with rocket on top. Chicken was dry. My friend ordered a chicken cheese burger which was ok.

We stopped by this spot due to a 3-hour flight delay, and it was a great choice! The atmosphere was buzzing with travellers coming and going, and the views of planes taking off and landing were fantastic. The food menu offered some lovely options, and the service was top-notch - relaxed and attentive, unlike some other airport restaurants. Our server was particularly brilliant, providing excellent service. Unfortunately, we didn't catch her name, but she'd definitely made our wait more enjoyable. If you're looking for a good spot to pass the time at the airport, this is definitely worth checking out!

I get that it’s a Wetherspoons so not expecting anything fancy or special however just lacking any basic care from the kitchen. Look at the state of the £11 “double cheeseburger” and fries. A basic budget burger is fine but clearly no quality check.
