About This Pub
Ah, The Saracens Head – it's one of those pubs that really warms your heart, isn't it? Tucked away in Warrington, this place has a rich history tied to local brewing, and you can taste that in every pint of their JW Lees ales. I love how welcoming the staff are; they make you feel like you're part of the gang from the get-go, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or hosting a family do. The big screens for live sports and the community events add such a fun buzz, and with darts, pool, and even a beer garden, there's plenty to keep things entertaining. Prices are fair too, so you won't feel short-changed. But, let's be straight, it's not without its quirks – I've heard it might be closed at the moment, which is a shame, and food doesn't seem to be their strong suit, so you might want to grab a bite elsewhere first. The hours can be a bit muddled as well, and if you're after a peaceful evening, the lively atmosphere during matches might not be your cup of tea. Overall, though, it's a gem for us pub goers who appreciate a good, honest spot to relax and chat – I'd say give it a go when it's up and running!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
A fantastic selection of real ales and beers, especially the JW Lees range – perfect for ale enthusiasts looking for something special.
-
It's got a real community feel, with live sports on big screens, events, and even spaces for private parties or celebrations.
-
The pub is spotlessly clean, with cosy fires in winter, plenty of seating inside and out, and fun extras like darts and pool tables.
-
Prices are competitive, so you can enjoy a pint without breaking the bank, and it's dog-friendly too – always a bonus for us dog lovers.
Cons
-
The operating status seems a bit unclear right now, as it might be temporarily closed, which could put a damper on spontaneous visits.
-
From what I've seen, food options aren't a big highlight – one person mentioned they didn't have any, so it might not be the go-to spot for a full meal.
-
The opening hours look a tad inconsistent in the listings, which could confuse folks trying to plan a trip out.
-
While the atmosphere is great for sports and chats, it might get a bit lively or noisy during big events, which isn't ideal if you're after a quiet pint.

Had no food.
Place and staff very welcoming.
Lots of different areas to sit inside and out.
Competitive prices and real ales available on draft.
Very clean pub and customers friendly.
Large TV's. Dart boards. Lovely fires when weather cold.
The Beer garden was put to excellent use. The choice of local ales made this an excellent first stop on our pub crawl.
The staff and regulars were very welcoming and joined in with some Glasgow banter.
We recently held the reception for our son’s christening at the Saracens Head in Warrington, the venue was perfect along with the service. We were allowed to arrange our own buffet and entertainment which was great for us as some of our guests had dietary requirements. The staff were extremely accommodating and when we needed extra tables for our guests they came straight over to sort.
Would highly recommend.
Grand old pub, recently refurbished but still retains architecture detail from when it was built. Great service from the staff, dog friendly and the Manchester Craft Lager is class.
