About This Pub
You know, chatting about The Red Lion feels like sharing tips over a pint with mates – it's got that cosy, community feel in the heart of Stockton Heath that's just spot on for a relaxed evening. The staff are genuinely lovely, always efficient and ready with a smile, and they've nailed the drinks menu with a great range of local ales and premium options that make it easy to find your favourite. That beer garden out the back is a real highlight; imagine lounging there on a sunny day, it sounds brilliant for catching up with friends or enjoying some live music like they do for events. On the flip side, it's not all roses – I've heard a few stories of unruly behaviour from some regulars, which could make things uncomfortable, and if you're not keen on big screens blasting sports, it might not be your ideal spot. Still, with an overall solid rating, it's worth popping in if you're nearby, just go in with an open mind and keep an eye on the atmosphere to make the most of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – friendly, efficient, and always up for a chat, making you feel right at home.
-
They've got a cracking selection of guest ales from the North West, plus premium wines and spirits that really hit the spot.
-
The beer garden is a gem, especially in the summer – it's huge and would be brilliant for soaking up the sun with mates.
-
It's got a great atmosphere for locals, with live music and events that make it a fun spot for get-togethers.
-
Plenty of outdoor spaces and a quiet room if you fancy a more relaxed vibe away from the hustle.
Cons
-
There have been a few reports of unsavoury behaviour, like some folks causing trouble or even dodgy goings-on that spoil the mood.
-
It can get a bit focused on sports like football and horse racing on the screens, which might not appeal if you're not into that.
-
Some experiences have been hit-and-miss, with one person mentioning it took time to feel welcome as an outsider.
-
The operating status seems a tad confusing at times, though it's generally open most days from midday onwards.

Went to the Teppanyaki in Warrington then the Red Lion pub, lovely little pub , then went out the back and wow ,a huge beer garden, I bet in the summer this place would be brilliant 😄
Good beer, friendly & efficient staff. Great if you happen to like football & horse racing on big screens (which I personally don't). One small quiet room, outdoor spaces & bars available too. A good "locals" pub!
Great place the Lion. Staff are brill. Atmosphere chilled. Downside on last visit was the 3 coke heads sat next to us busy passing stuff under the table and running off to the toilet all the time, coming back with a terrible cold. Nip this in the bud and will be even better
Had my 65th birthday get together there last week on the Bowling green. Live music, Band then a Singer. Social distancing was no problem. Great to see friends and well looked after.
