About This Pub
Ah, The Saddle Inn—it's one of those places that really gets you in the mood for a good night out, especially if you're a fan of live music and all things rock. From what I've gathered, it's transformed from an old pub into this vibrant hub where you can catch everything from open mic sessions to full-blown gigs, and the energy is just infectious. The staff are gems, always on hand with a smile and expert advice on the drinks menu, which has a solid selection to keep you going. Plus, those rock-themed hotel rooms add a quirky twist if you're planning to stay over—imagine waking up in a Guns N' Roses paradise! On the downside, it's pretty niche, so if rock isn't your bag, you might feel a bit out of place among the crowd. And honestly, a few things like events running late or the lack of clear opening times could throw a spanner in the works. All in all, though, it's a solid spot for a memorable evening, and I'd say give it a go if you're up for some lively entertainment in Chester.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The live music scene is absolutely brilliant, with events like open mic nights, karaoke, and regular gigs that make it a real hub for music lovers.
-
The atmosphere is so welcoming and friendly, where everyone can relax and enjoy themselves without any judgement—it's like chatting with mates over a pint.
-
Staff are knowledgeable and provide top-notch service, always ready to recommend a drink or help out, which really adds to the experience.
-
They've got unique rock-themed hotel rooms that sound like a fun novelty for a stay, perfect if you're making a weekend of it.
-
A great selection of beers and drinks on offer, plus it's won awards for being the best entertainment pub, so you know it's got something special going on.
Cons
-
The operating status seems a bit unclear from what I've seen, which might put a dampener on plans if it's not open when you expect.
-
Some events don't always start on time, like the live music kicking off later than advertised, which could be frustrating after a long wait.
-
It's heavily focused on rock music, so if that's not your thing, you might find it a bit one-dimensional and not as appealing for a varied night out.
-
No specific opening hours are listed, making it tricky to plan a visit without double-checking first.

Great rock bar, nice friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable staff.
We travelled six hours from Devon to stay here as a group of four. Me and my friend shared the Guns n Roses room and the birthday girl and her sister had the Black Sabbath room. We travelled all this way because it’s so unique to stay and find a Rock themed hotel! The rooms were amazing from the tom drum being a beside table and speaker as a table and the fist pump lights on the wall everything is so well thought out! The beds were comfy and the rooms were clean.
The location is perfect a car park a two minute walk away and a short walk to the centre.
The owners are incredible! They could not do enough to make us feel welcome, I felt like I had woken up at a friends house with their cool parents that let us stay the night and we love Harley the French bull dog❤️ they honestly make you feel like you’re home. And all the bar staff are amazing and the breakfast staff too! The food is also lovely that they serve too!
We really enjoyed the band downstairs the drinks are cheap and the atmosphere felt so safe and we had so much fun…so much fun we missed breakfast the next day!
We would absolutely travel and will be coming back to stay again!
Amazing pub ran brilliantly not really into the music as not my thing but still have a great night in here on occasions I’ve been in Leigh & Rebecca are great landlords and turned this venue in The Best Rock Music Venue in Chester
The staff and owner are outstanding and the service is excellent, The music is very very good. I went on an open mic night and it was so much fun. Highly recommend.
Phenomenal to find a proper Rock bar whilst I am working near Chester. Its quite large inside with a couple of "zones" I'll call them around the bar. Live music albeit a little later than advertised (bands fault!) plenty beer choice and really lovely stsff who probably had been regulars here at some point. I bumped into a couple of very friendly locals who were happy to share stories about gigs and meeting musicians in their town.
Great beer, smashing staff and friendly locals. I will make time to return.
