About This Pub

Ah, The Rumbold Arms – it's one of those classic British pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this lovely homely vibe where the staff and crowd are dead welcoming, making it a top spot for everything from a quiet drink to celebrating with friends. I love how it's kept clean and spacious, with a separate area for private dos, which sounds perfect if you're planning something special. They've got snacks on offer at the bar, which is handy for a quick bite, but it's not the place for a full sit-down meal, so keep that in mind if you're peckish. On the flip side, it does seem to struggle a bit when things get busy, with not enough hands on deck at the bar, which could leave you waiting a tad longer than you'd like. Still, with a solid rating and plenty of positive vibes from recent visitors, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a good time overall – I'd say it's well worth popping in for a pint if you're in the area, just manage your expectations for the service on peak nights.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff and regulars are incredibly friendly, giving the place a real homely and welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home.
  • It's got a great atmosphere for all sorts of occasions, like birthday parties or private events, with a clean and spacious area to enjoy your drinks.
  • A relaxed spot perfect for catching up with mates over a quiet pint or a casual meet-up, and they've got snacks available at the bar to keep things simple.
  • The pub maintains a high standard of cleanliness and has a spacious drinking area, which adds to the overall comfort.
Cons
  • It can get a bit understaffed behind the bar during busier times, which might mean a longer wait for your drinks.
  • There aren't any full dine-in options, just snacks at the bar, so if you're after a proper meal, you might need to look elsewhere.

I used to go in the rumbold many years ago (late 60s early 70s) when I was on United towing tugs working with the oil rigs I remember it as a brilliant pub I think I'm over due a visit
