About This Pub
You know, when I think about Blackfriars Tavern, it just brings a smile – it's one of those pubs that feels like a hidden delight in Great Yarmouth, especially if you're into your real ales and ciders. They've got this fantastic array of drinks on offer, from Belgian beers to local specials, and it's clear from the buzz around it that they've earned those CAMRA awards fair and square. The food's a real highlight too; that homemade game pie and those hand-cut chips are absolute winners, leaving you satisfied without breaking the bank. The staff are dead welcoming and always up for a chat about what to try next, which adds to the cosy, relaxed feel – pop in for a quiz night or grab some board games for a fun evening. On the downside, it does wrap up at 11 PM, so it's not ideal if you're after a late sesh, and things can get a bit lively during peak times, making it tricky to find space. All in all, it's a solid choice for a great night; I'd say give it a go if you're in the area – you won't be disappointed, but just plan around those quieter moments for the best experience.

Yarmouth's best kept secret!
Fantastic pub, extensive selection of Belgium beers, real ales and ciders, and the food is consistently delicious (make sure to ask for their signature hand-cut chips!). The monthly quiz night has a brilliant atmosphere, and they have a great selection of board games to enjoy - perfect for a pint with your friends.
Another tip, you can purchase a selection of takeaway ales, and they even offer a gift box should you want to curate the perfect present for someone special.
I don't go anywhere else in Yarmouth now - there's just no need!
Just landed on the long flight from Sydney. First stop. Wow. Brilliant pub. Awesome landlady. Nice beer. Home made game pie and hand cut chips. Brilliant.
We didn't eat, but we were received warmly, bothered landlord and other patrons. I had the landlords own stout and Grain brewer 316, is the light beer. Both beers were spot on.
A real ale drinker’s heaven! 18 hand pumps, not all on at once except during beer festivals. 9 active pumps during my visit serving 6 real ales & 3 ciders. Definitely worth seeking out.
I often visit pubs, this is one of the best! Fantastic selection of real ales. Really comfortable and relaxed atmosphere with games/cards on every table. I really could spend all day here it’s really worth a visit! The owners are super friendly and know their beers very very well and are able to suggest based upon your preference. All areas are clean, tidy and well presented.
Those who don’t want alcohol are very well catered for too with a selection of loose tea’s to chose from. Well behaved dogs are welcomed and treated with cuddles and free gravy bones!
They sell food such as home made pies and (more than) triple cooked chips and sometimes provide nibbles during your visit. We didn’t have the chance to eat but the food we saw served looked absolutely amazing.
Thank you for making our trip to Great Yarmouth that little bit more magical we’ll be sure to return again soon!
