About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Royal Oak – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper English hideaway, tucked away in the picturesque village of Quorn. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks absolutely love the welcoming vibe; the staff go out of their way to make you feel at ease, and there's this fantastic array of local brews and spirits that really celebrate the area. Picture yourself sinking into a comfy spot by the open fire on a chilly evening or enjoying a pint in the sunny beer garden – it's got that timeless appeal that's perfect for a casual meet-up or even bringing the dog along for the fun. On the flip side, the opening times can be a bit of a puzzle with all those varying schedules, so you might end up planning ahead more than you'd like. And while the food gets high praise when it's mentioned, it doesn't always steal the show, so if you're after a hearty bite, it might not quite hit the mark every visit. All in all, it's a gem for those laid-back moments, but just keep in mind it leans more towards quiet charm than buzzing energy – I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the mood for something genuine and heartfelt.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely charming and cosy, with a lovely open fire in winter and a beautiful beer garden for sunny days – perfect for unwinding with friends.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and provide excellent service, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, especially local ales, wines, and gins from the Leicestershire area, which really adds to the authentic village vibe.
-
It's wonderfully dog-friendly and welcoming, ideal for popping in with your furry companion after a country walk.
-
With its rich history dating back to 1856, it offers that traditional pub charm that's hard to beat for a relaxed catch-up or family gathering.
Cons
-
The opening hours can seem a bit confusing with multiple listings, so it's worth double-checking before heading out to avoid any disappointment.
-
While some folks rave about the food, others aren't quite sure what's on offer, so it might not be the go-to spot if you're after a full meal every time.
-
Being in a quiet village, it can get a tad peaceful during off-peak times, which might not suit those looking for a more lively night out.

Met up with friends for a lunchtime chatch up. Wonderful pub with character. Excellent service. Lunchtime food menue, well we were spoilt for choice. Highly recommend.
Great place, friendly with good range of beers and a nice fire. (Not sure if they offer food)
Excellent host, good quality food, very quiet on a Tuesday lunchtime. I would highly recommend this venue.
Spent a very enjoyable couple of hours in this pub this afternoon. The staff and customers were very friendly and the drinks we had were great, especially the beer.
The pub was very cosy as well which is much appreciated. Many establishments seem to be quite chilly these days. Whilst I accept the rising costs of fuel etc, sitting in a cold place is not much fun.
