About This Pub

Ah, The Royal Exchange in Worcester – it's one of those pubs that really hits the spot for a laid-back evening with friends. From what I've gathered, it's got that classic community feel, with pints coming in under £4, which is an absolute steal these days. They're all about the sports too; think HD screens blasting live football, rugby, and even horse racing, so if you're up for cheering on your team, this place delivers in spades. The staff sound like a lively bunch, adding to the fun atmosphere, and it's pet-friendly, which is always a nice touch if you're out with your dog. On the flip side, though, a few folks have mentioned getting the cold shoulder if you're not a regular – like being ignored at the bar while others jump ahead – which isn't ideal for a first-timer. Plus, the drinks are heavily focused on lagers, so if you're fancying something more adventurous, you might end up disappointed. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual pint and a chat, especially if you're watching the pennies, but it's worth popping in with the right expectations to avoid any surprises.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic value for money with pints under £4, making it a brilliant spot for a budget-friendly night out.
  • Top-notch sports coverage with HD screens showing live football, rugby, horse racing, and more – perfect for catching the big games.
  • Friendly and fun staff who create a welcoming, community vibe, as mentioned in several upbeat reviews.
  • Pet-friendly policy, so you can pop in with your furry friend without any hassle.
  • A cosy, intimate atmosphere with unbeatable drink offers and special deals, ideal for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
Cons
  • Service can be inconsistent, with some experiences feeling a bit rushed or ignoring newcomers while regulars get priority.
  • Drink selection is mostly lagers on tap, so if you're after a wider variety of options, it might leave you wanting more.
  • The pub can sometimes feel unwelcoming to those who aren't locals, based on a few reviews where folks felt overlooked.
  • Opening hours vary a tad, and it's currently listed as closed, which might catch you out if you're planning a spontaneous visit.

Was one of my favourite pubs in Worcester, but I clearly don’t go in enough. Completely ignored whilst clearly waiting and trying to make eye contact. Locals walking up jumping ahead, felt very unwelcome!

Not a good pub. Loads of lagers on tap. That's about it. Barmaid was nice. That's about the only highlight. It was cheapish? Under £4 for a pint.
