About This Pub
Ah, The Rose Villa Tavern in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its cosy, character-filled interior, all stained glass and tiles that make you feel like you're stepping back in time. I've heard from loads of folks that it's a brilliant spot for a catch-up with friends or even a family outing, thanks to being super welcoming and pet-friendly. The drinks menu is a real highlight, with everything from cracking real ales to cocktails and even non-alcoholic choices, and it's perfect if you're into watching the footie on a big screen or enjoying a bit of live music from a DJ. On the flip side, though, some mates have mentioned that the food, while tasty when it finally arrives, can take an age, which isn't ideal if you're starving after a long day. Plus, the prices might make you wince a bit – that £7 pint is a shocker for some – and a few have noted the place isn't always as spotless as it could be, which is a pity in an otherwise lovely spot. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening, but I'd say go in with realistic expectations and maybe plan around the slower service to make the most of it. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth popping in for a drink and a chat!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely charming, with a warm welcome that makes you feel right at home, especially in that classic British pub setting full of character.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, from real ales and cocktails to low or no-alcohol options, and it's a top spot for catching up with mates over a pint.
-
It's super family-friendly and dog-friendly, so you can bring the little ones or your furry friend along for a relaxed day out.
-
Live sports on the big screen, like Sky Sports and TNT, plus occasional DJ sets, make it a lively place for watching the footie or enjoying some tunes.
Cons
-
Food can take a while to arrive, which might leave you a bit peckish if you're hoping for a quick bite.
-
Prices are a tad on the steep side, like shelling out over £7 for a pint – it's stung a few folks who've been there.
-
Some areas could do with a bit more attention to cleanliness, as a couple of visitors have pointed out issues that dampen the experience.
-
The grub is decent when it shows up, but it's not always up to scratch for the price, with a few saying it's just okay rather than outstanding.

Lovely hidden gem of a pub. We went during the day on a Friday and the DJ had the classic jams playing and pumping early, with the football on as well. Rose Villa Tav seems to cater for an older audience but all are welcomed warmly. The food took a while to arrive but was HOT and tasty on arrival. Fairly priced food and drinks given the location but they have serveral drinks deals on and interesting range of cocktails to try!
Charming nice looking pub in the Jewellery Quarter. Fantastic aesthetic. Enjoyed a lovely pint in here recently, but it was a historic one for me personally, as it was the first time I broke the £7 price barrier for one, something I hadn't even managed in Airports or Central London before.
Having spoken about this to a lot of other people since, I now realise this was an incredibly high price even for that particular beer. Have previously had a few good times in here, going back a few years.
A decent pint of Guinness and ok service let down by sub par food and general cleanliness of the places (see photos). Food was ok nothing great not really worth the price you pay. Was given a dirty knife(see photos) basic requirement would be to at least give clean cutlery. The place needs a serious revamp starting to look run down. Benches got plenty of stains and not been cleaned properly. Would probably not return here however the pint of Guinness was pretty decent so that was a plus.
A nice pub on the centre of the Jewllery Quarter with the classic pub style decoration inside.
Friendly staff and a clean ambient. The food is great and the price is ok for the size of the plate.
There are burgers and sandwichs available and other smaller dishes like chips and salads.
I miss the old Fish and Chips on the menu tough.
The drink selection is great with things for all tastes.
It's a great place to go out at night in the area.
What a fantastic pub!!!! Went for the first time yesterday with my partner and a friend. Absolutely loved the interior. So full of character. Tiles and stained glass everywhere. It really is a special little place. As they serve Neck Oil, we found that we spent far longer in there than we'd intended. Well worth a visit.
