About This Pub
Ah, 1000 Trades, what a gem in the heart of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter – it's got that perfect mix of cosy vibes and excitement that makes you want to pop in for a quick drink and end up staying for the night. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a real highlight; think excellent Sunday roasts and rotating guest chefs that keep things fresh and exciting, paired with a fantastic array of craft beers and wines that cater to all tastes. The events lineup is spot on too – whether it's catching some live jazz, joining an improv night, or just enjoying the local artwork on the walls, there's always something going on to liven things up. The staff are absolute stars, making everyone feel welcome with their friendly chatter and efficient service, which really adds to the community feel. On the flip side, though, the hours can be a bit unpredictable, so you might find yourself wrapping up earlier than planned, and if you're watching the pennies, the moderate prices could add up for a full evening out. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a proper Birmingham pub experience – I'd say give it a try for a relaxed meal or a fun night, and you won't be disappointed.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – from delicious Sunday lunches to guest chef pop-ups, it's all about quality and variety that really hits the spot.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks, like four real ales, seven craft beers, and eleven natural wines on tap, perfect for a relaxed pint or something a bit more special.
-
The atmosphere is so welcoming and quirky, with live music, comedy nights, and improv events that make it a lively community hub without feeling overwhelming.
-
The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, always ready with a smile and great service that makes you feel right at home.
Cons
-
The operating hours can be a tad confusing with varying closing times, so it's worth double-checking if you're planning a late one, as it might close earlier than expected.
-
Being in the Jewellery Quarter, it could be a bit out of the way if you're not already in that part of Birmingham, and with moderate prices, it might not be the cheapest option for a quick drink.

One of the best spots in JQ if not all of Brum
Cosy vibes with frequent foodie pop ups, fun events and amazing staff!
Perfect for a drink or a bite without the pressure of “going out”
Highly recommend for casual drinks!!
Excellent Sunday lunch. Delicious food. Excellent service. Most definitely quality over quantity but the quantity is more than enough. The food is wonderfully prepared. The service is attentive. A definite recommend.
Absolutely amazing.
Had a fantastic meal before the Improv show started.
Great music and great selection of beers too.
You get the quality you pay for so it was a wonderful night out.
Went on the recommendation from a colleague and will go again. The fish and chips was excellent, accompanied by a nice cider and followed by a good coffee. Will be heading back to check out the jazz they host regularly, looking forward to hearing some good live music.
