About This Pub
You know, when I think about The Roebuck Inn, it just feels like one of those classic spots that captures the heart of old England, all tucked away on Station Street. I'd say it's spot on if you're after a pint of something special, like their great range of real ales – I've heard plenty of good things about the Bass and other draughts that keep regulars coming back. The staff are dead helpful and really make you feel at home, especially with those live bands on Sundays that add a bit of buzz to the place. It's also handy if you're travelling, being so close to the train station, and if you need a room for the night, they've got affordable options that are clean and comfy. On the flip side, it's a pity they don't do food, so you might have to head elsewhere if you're peckish, and a couple of comments suggest it might not always hit the mark for a super welcoming vibe these days. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed drink or a quick stay, but keep in mind it's more about the beers and the charm than a full evening out.

That traditional pub atmosphere really shines through, with its charming old-world vibe from the 1800s.
-
Live bands every Sunday afternoon – it's a brilliant spot for some lively entertainment.
-
Super convenient location, just a couple of minutes from the train station, making it easy to pop in.
-
If you're after affordable digs, they've got clean and comfortable rooms starting from just £25 a night, with nice touches like WiFi and tea-making facilities.
Cons
-
It doesn't serve food, which is a bit of a shame if you're looking for a meal with your drink.
-
Some folks have mentioned it doesn't feel as welcoming as it used to, so it might not suit everyone straight away.
-
The cider options are a bit lacking – not much variety if that's your thing.

Great for different beers . Does not do food as I now hence 3 stars . Have bands on every Sunday afternoon . Proper proper pub
Very nice pub ,good choice for real ales
No longer a welcoming pub. If they had a piano the pianist would stop playing when you walk in, know what I mean. Shame really thay have some good beers on draught no interesting cider to be had though. Do yourself a favour, walk towards town centre and try the Devonshire Arms or the Coopers tavern in cross street. Both little gems.
Proper pub. Lovely atmosphere. Superbly looked after. Good range of beers. Had a lovely pint of reservoir before my train.
11 of us went in on Saturday afternoon and it was very busy. When the Bass barrel was changed the lady behind the bar would not serve until it was in tip top condition even though there was about 5 people waiting. A lot of people would just fill the glasses and sell it but she wouldn't pass it over the bar until it was perfect. And it was perfect. A member of our group said it was the best pint of beer he had EVER drank. Praise indeed
