About This Pub

Ah, The Roebuck – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a relaxed evening or a bite to eat with mates. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the place has this fantastic atmosphere that's always got something lively happening, whether it's a quiz night or just the general chatter. The drinks are a highlight too; they're so reasonably priced that you won't break the bank, and paired with their lovely outside area, it's ideal for soaking up the fresh air on a milder Manchester day. The food's another winner – the new menu has folks raving about the quality, from hearty meals to those Sunday lunches that feel like a proper treat. The staff really add to the charm, being so friendly and making everyone feel welcome, which is just what you want after a long week. On the flip side, though, there was that one review where things went south with security being a bit abrupt about age checks, so it might pay to keep that in mind if you're out with a mixed group. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good time, and with its inexpensive prices, I'd say it's worth popping in for a pint – just go in with an open mind and enjoy the positives!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely fantastic – it's always buzzing with something going on, making it a proper lively spot for a catch-up.
  • Drinks are incredibly well-priced; you'll find some of the best deals around, which is a real treat these days.
  • They've got a lovely outside area that's perfect for enjoying a pint on a sunny day, adding a nice touch to the whole experience.
  • The food is spot on, with a new menu that's getting rave reviews – from great pub grub to Sunday lunches that leave you wanting more.
  • Staff are super friendly and welcoming, which really makes you feel at home from the moment you walk in.
Cons
  • There was one off-putting experience where security was a bit rude about checking ages, which could spoil an otherwise good night out.
  • With only a handful of recent reviews, it's hard to get a full picture, so things might vary depending on when you visit.

Had a terrible experience tonight.5/10/2024. I was out for a meal with my boyfriend and his parents. We arrived at the pub at 7:20pm and was greeted warmly by the guards. We sat down ordered food and drink not a problem. Then at 8:40pm i was approached by a security guard who rudely asked my age, when i told him 21 he told me i needed to leave. We were all mortified at the request. Apparently there are no under 23’s allowed in the permises after 7pm. There is nothing up on the website or in the pub stating this.We then asked if we could stay to finish our drinks but we were just told again “ she needs to leave”. Very abruptly. At this point we had just spent over £140 on food and drink and they decided to have a problem. After it calmed down the guards came back circling our table, i felt very intimidated by this. How they can expect a young female to go out into the night by herself on a Saturday night is beyond me. Never again save your time and money.
