About This Pub
Ah, The Rockwood – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot, you know? Tucked away in the heart of Aylesbury's old town, it's full of character with its cosy nooks and that charming courtyard garden that's perfect for a sunny afternoon or even a heated evening chat when the weather turns. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, the food is a real highlight – think hearty homemade dishes like a cracking burger or gammon that leaves you smiling, and they've got options for everyone, including vegan mates. The drinks selection is spot on too, with a great lineup of ales, beers, and spirits that make choosing your tipple a delight. Service-wise, it's all about that genuine warmth; the team seems to go the extra mile, making sure you're looked after without being over the top. Of course, it's not flawless – it can get a bit bustling in the evenings, which might not suit if you're after a peaceful escape, and those opening hours do look a smidge inconsistent, so planning ahead is key. All in all, it's a solid choice for a night out, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or settling in for some live music and good craic with friends.

Excellent.
The Rockwood burger is the best. Very nice and friendly staff. Good atmosphere.
Was visiting friends who introduced us to The Rockwood, both myself and my Wife loved it, great staff that were friendly and efficient, lovely atmosphere and decor. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area! 10/10
Lovely central pub with good food. The lady at the bar who served us was incredibly kind and attentive. She made sure we had everything we needed and provided excellent service with a smile.
Lunch with bestie, excellent as usual. We both had the gammon, egg and chips, delicious 😋 Several visits later and the food is still delicious. This time there was a group of us who all enjoyed sitting out in the courtyard garden with our food. Every time we go to the Rockwood the food is great, today was as good as usual.
A very charming, very old pub with excellent food and service. We were welcomed by the barman, who was very friendly and cordial. I asked about their ciders and was promptly given samples of the two on tap. Both were nice, but I preferred the Rosie's Pig rhubarb. We both had the vegan lentil burger with chunky fries and side salad. Unlike most pubs we've visited, these seemed to be homemade on location rather than a frozen commercial patty, and they were quite good, as were the chips. The place was quiet while we were there, and offers several distinct seating areas, including a secluded courtyard, tables outside in front, and several different areas with both high and low tables inside. Adding to the homey touches provided by the photos and paintings of the area at various times in history were a box of games to play while you were there and a box of neatly-folded blankets with a sign encouraging you to borrow one if you were cold. I found this a particularly nice touch. There is also at least one fireplace with a supply of logs. Toilets were very clean, as was the rest of the pub. Very much enjoyed the time we spent there. Recommended!
