About This Pub

You know, when I think about The Rising Sun, it really brings back that nostalgic feel of a proper British pub that's managed to stick around amidst all the changes in North London. The staff stand out as absolute gems, always up for a chat and making you feel right at home, which is just what you want on a relaxed evening out. They've packed in all the essentials too – think dart boards, a pool table, and a jukebox that gets the tunes flowing – plus those outdoor spots for when the sun's out and you're in the mood for a garden pint. And let's not forget, it's easy on the pocket, so you can pop in without worrying about the bill. On the other hand, it's a bit of a letdown that there's no grub available; you'd have to head elsewhere if you're peckish. I've heard from a few that the crowd isn't always the friendliest, especially if you're flying solo or in a talkative mood, so it might not suit every outing. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after an authentic pub experience, but keep in mind it has its quirks – pop by when you're in the area and see for yourself; you might just love it or learn to pick your moments.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's a proper old-school pub that's holding onto that classic North London charm, keeping traditions alive where others have faded away.
  • The staff are genuinely friendly and engaging, like the landlord who makes an effort to chat and create a welcoming vibe.
  • They've got a great setup with two bars, dart boards, a pool table, and a jukebox, perfect for a fun night with mates.
  • Outdoor spaces are a nice touch, with a front area and a small rear garden for enjoying a pint in the fresh air.
  • Prices are reasonable, making it an affordable spot for a casual drink without stretching the wallet.
Cons
  • There's no food on offer, which is a real pity if you're hoping for a bite to go with your pint.
  • The atmosphere can be hit or miss; some folks have felt a bit out of place if they're new or feeling chatty, depending on the locals.
  • It might not always be buzzing, as one visit could be quiet and underwhelming, especially on off-peak days.
  • With varying experiences, it's not the most consistent spot for everyone, so you might need to pick your time wisely.

This is one of the Last old Pub's of North London, Sadly Most have closed down and become Indian Restaurants or blocks of Flats.. But The rising sun keeps on going where others are failed, And that doesn’t happen by accident it happens because People keep coming back to the rising Sun because they know how to pull a pint and make a great atmosphere for the punters, So If you want a great old fashioned Pub, this is the place to go ..

I was alone and chatty, and although Steve was an outstanding landlord and engaging. Some locals didn't seem to like it. On the hole beutiful pub. Nice landlord and a jukebox. I didn't feel very welcome though.. Sorry Steve. Because you was a top top bloke👍

This is a great local pub. It has two separate bars, two dart boards, pool table and a jukebox. The staff are very friendly. There are two external drinking areas, one at the front and a small rear garden. The pub is very well stocked with various draft beers and a good selection of spirits. If you are looking for a true local then I recommend this pub.

A nice pub with a lovely garden that has an egg chair. There is no food which is a shame. Drink is the only option. Staff were friendly and the manager was very accommodating for me as I was in a wheelchair.
