About This Pub
Ah, the Crown & Anchor in Edmonton – it's one of those neighbourhood pubs that really hits the spot for a relaxed pint and some live action on the telly. I've got to say, the cheap prices and unbeatable drink deals make it a winner for anyone watching their wallet, and the staff can be spot-on when they're on form, creating that warm, community vibe with all the sports screenings and events. It's especially great if you're into football or rugby, as they've got the big matches covered with HD screens and a proper atmosphere. But, fair play, it's not all roses – some folks have had a rough time with what sounds like abrupt or even discriminatory behaviour from the owner or staff, and there are tales of being turned away for minor reasons, which is a bit of a shame. Still, with an overall solid rating, it's worth popping in if you're nearby, just go in with your eyes open and maybe stick to the positives like the drinks and the craic.

Cons

A few reports of rude or unwelcoming behaviour from the staff or owner, which can really put a dampener on things.
-
Some issues around access to facilities, like needing to buy a drink before using the toilet, which has left a bad taste for some.

Occasional discriminatory comments or an exclusive vibe, such as signs suggesting it's for regulars only, making newcomers feel out of place.

Inconsistent experiences overall, with mixed reviews indicating it might not always live up to the hype.

Great pub, excellent service and very cheap prices.
IMHO the best pub in London! 1000%!
The best staff, the best management and the best customers!
To all the negative reviewers I say this:
1. it is NOT a legal requirement to allow you to use the toilet without buying something; it is a management decision, based on previous experience.
2. I have NEVER seen the manager of this pub walking around in just his socks! Even when off-shift and relaxing, if he HAS to be called from his quarters to deal with an issue, he is always shod... perhaps the reviewer who stated that mistook his FLIP-FLOPS for stocking feet?
3. Why would you expect to walk into A PUBLIC HOUSE and watch football without buying something? No pub or bar in the world would allow this... they are there to make money and pay the staff... if you don't buy anything - well I'm sure you get the picture. I'll go one further... the manager is FAR from being racist (he even goes so far as delivering drinks to our Caribbean regulars and he regards ALL of them as a friend) - if ANYBODY, regardless of race or creed attempts to take the piss (i.e. expecting to watch football, play the machines or use the toilet without buying anything), they will be asked to leave - it's not rocket science or quantum physics!
4. You cannot walk into a PUB and expect to play the fruit machines without buying something... why would you? It's a PUB, not a CASINO! It says on the sign - Crown and Anchor PUBLIC HOUSE! Nowhere does it say CASINO!
Rudest man ever been on the train for hour popped in to get a drink and all because I went to go toilet before buying a drink he kicked me out. I'm sorry. Ut when is it law to buy a drink before going to the loo .I'm not from the area like all the other scum bags so don't palm me off like I'm the same you mug show respect to new customers
The owner of this establishment was so drunk and out of it. Completely shocking. He was walking around the bar barefooted with white socks, and accused us of being gypsies and romanian of all things, even though we told him several times we were from Norway. I guess he was in a state of not being able to understand what people told him. The lady behind the bar was nice and polite, but the owner really shocked us. We had one drink and left. There were 4 people at the pub at 10 pm on a Saturday night. For us that says it all. Maybe the owner should slow down on the drinks and focus more on business and promotion.
Was going to pop in as I'd heard good things about it. Shocked to see a sign on the door stating 'regulars only'. Surely illegal for a public house? I gave it a swerve as I didn't want there to be 'An American Werewolf in London' situation - went to The Lamb instead.
