About This Pub

You know, I had a wander into the Railway Tavern the other week, and it's got that proper local pub feel that's just right for a casual get-together. The staff are genuinely welcoming, always up for a bit of banter, and the prices are spot on – like grabbing a double whisky for a fiver and change, which doesn't hurt the pocket at all. They've spruced the place up with a fresh renovation, so it's spacious and tidy, and that jukebox pumps out tunes that really lift the spirits. It's ideal if you fancy a relaxed pint of lager or Guinness without any fuss. On the downside, though, the drink choices are a bit limited; no cask ales in sight, even with the sign promising them, and the whisky range won't wow anyone looking for something special. Plus, it can feel a smidge quiet when it's not buzzing, so it's probably best for a low-key catch-up rather than a big night out. All in all, it's a solid spot for us pub lovers who appreciate the simple things, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea if you're after more excitement or variety.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, just like popping in for a chat with old mates.
  • Reasonable prices on drinks, such as a double whisky for only £6, which is a bargain for a quick tipple.
  • A great jukebox with a solid music selection that adds to the fun and keeps things lively on a quiet evening.
  • Spacious and neatly kept interior, especially after their recent renovation, making it a comfortable spot to relax.
  • That classic dive bar vibe, which is spot on if you're after a no-frills, authentic pub experience.
Cons
  • Limited drink options, like no cask ales despite the sign outside, which might disappoint if you're keen on variety.
  • Sometimes lacks a buzzing atmosphere when it's not busy, leaving it feeling a tad quiet and underwhelming.
  • Whisky selection is pretty sparse, so if you're a whisky enthusiast, you might not find much to excite you.

A nice local pub with good service. This is by no means a posh pub, in fact it has a dive bar feel to it (which I like). They have the usual lagers on tap but no cask beer. I opted for a double Bells whisky, at a very reasonable £6, albeit the whisky choice was very limited. They do have a pool table and an outside smoking area at the rear. They also have free wifi. It is situated next to the market, 2 minutes from the bus station and 5 minutes from the Overground. This pub is far enough from Spurs so that it does not get busy on match days. In summary, I enjoyed my visit (especially the jukebox) and the cheap prices are a refreshing change from central London.

Always always a welcoming place to come and be yourself. Great staff and customers. Keep it up guys! Oh and it has a jukebox (I always think that's important for a pub). Plus best pint of Guinness in Edmonton by far..

A friendly, spacious and neat independent public house. The pints of larger are good value compared with other independent ones. Good music from Jukebox. Definitely worth a visit.

I love the new renovated look. Fresh, fun and spacious. Beautiful looking pub, with oh so such pretty looking staff. Great tasting beer through newly installed pipes. Perfect stop when passing by the green. The shopping mall especially when the sun is out just adds to the whole vibrancy and feel of the environment.

Friendly enough staff and nice mixed selection of music playing, but lacking atmosphere (and customers - my entry upped the footfall by some 50%). Says 'cask ales' on a sign outside but they've not had a cask ale on in living memory and one of the women behind the bar didn't even know it said so outside. I didn't try the toilets but it's telling that the two locals drinking up at the bar when I visited talked about going out to the public toilets in the covered market outside.
