About This Pub

Ah, The Ring O' Bells, what a classic spot in Shipley – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a second home with its cosy, old-school charm and a cracking lineup of local cask ales that keep you coming back for more. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, folks absolutely rave about the friendly staff who make you feel welcome from the get-go, and that beer garden is a winner for soaking up the sun with a pint in hand, especially during events like the Shipley Weekender where the live music adds a fun twist. It's spot on for watching the big games too, with multiple screens showing Sky and TNT Sports, so if you're into your footy or rugby, you're sorted. On the flip side, though, it can get a bit rowdy with all the telly action and chatter, which might put off anyone after a peaceful chat – I know I've had to raise my voice a few times just to be heard. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for a good night out; just pop in knowing it's more about the lively energy than a hushed setting, and you'll have a top time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The selection of cask ales is absolutely spot on, with local brews like Tetley's and Saltaire Blonde that really hit the spot for any ale enthusiast.
  • It's got a fantastic beer garden that's perfect for chilling out with a pint on a sunny day, making it a great spot for casual meet-ups.
  • The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and a traditional pub vibe that makes you feel right at home, especially if you're there for live sports on the big screens.
  • They show a wide range of live sports with TNT and Sky, so it's brilliant for catching the footy or other events without missing a beat.
Cons
  • It can get a bit noisy inside due to the TVs blasting sports and folks chatting loudly, which might not suit everyone looking for a quiet evening.
  • The opening hours vary a tad and start a bit later in the week, so if you're after an early pint, you might have to plan around that.

A good old fashioned "local pub". Ideal for the real ale drinker. Plenty of televisions for those who want to watch football. Always plenty of staff, so you are not waiting ages, to get your round in. However the noise is something to contend with. Because of the televisions, customers are shouting over the noise, to hold conversations. At times it can be overwhelming.

I went to the beer garden with my wife to have some drinks and enjoy the live music during the Shipley Weekender event. Fantastic atmosphere and a lot of fun. Glad to see that there still places like this where you can see great local bands and artist in a friendly environment with peoples of all ages. Highly recommended experience for certain.
