About This Pub
Ah, The Rifleman – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot if you're after a proper British pint in a cosy setting. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the beers are an absolute highlight; they've got a brilliant range from Twickenham Brewery, all beautifully kept and perfect for chatting over with friends. The staff sound like a friendly bunch, always up for a laugh, and that garden area is a bonus on sunny days – imagine sipping a cold one outside with the world buzzing by. It's inexpensive too, which means you can make a night of it without splashing out. On the flip side, it's a bit limited on food options; you're stuck with just crisps and nuts, so if you're peckish for something more substantial, you might want to grab a bite before you go. The hours are mostly evenings, which is great for after-work wind-downs but not ideal if you're an early bird. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint, and I'd say give it a try if you're in the area – it's got that authentic pub magic that's worth sharing with your mates.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
Fantastic selection of local beers from Twickenham Brewery – it's a real treat for anyone who loves a well-kept pint.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
-
It has that classic pub charm with a lovely garden for soaking up the sun on a nice day.
-
Prices are really reasonable, so you can enjoy a few rounds without worrying about the wallet.
-
The atmosphere is spot-on for a relaxed evening, with great company and a genuine community feel.
Cons
-
They don't offer much in the way of food – just crisps and nuts – so if you're after a proper meal, you'll need to head elsewhere.
-
Opening hours tend to kick off in the late afternoon, which might not suit those looking for a quick lunch or early drink.
-
There haven't been many recent reviews, which makes you wonder if it's still buzzing as much as it used to be.

Lovely spread of beers, good company and crown. Best pub in Twickenham
Didn't eat so food rating given for the beer.
A lovely place, a classic pub, with beautifully kept beer from craft brewers. If you enjoy wonderful beer, you must visit!
Excellent boozer in twickenham very friendly staff great selection of beers by the twickenham berwery
A great pub and also a local, in the sense of the local pub in the past, which not many pubs nowadays can do it. Maybe I am rambling, but I knew where to get a good beer and atmosphere. There you have it!
Now, 2023, back again, still a pub which everyone should visit. Try it, you might like it... 👍
PS Back again after a while, now November 2023, and still a delight. Cosy, with a real fire, just right for the impending colder weather and the beer is as good as it always has been. See for yourself...
February 2nd 2024... The pub is alive and in anticipation of the forthcoming rugby tournament. I am only passing through; enjoying the beers and absorbing the atmosphere.
Great little pub with a lovely little garden for when the sun is shining. They don't do food (apart from crisps and nuts) but this isn't an issue for us, in fact it keeps away the families with kids! ;-) Always have at least 3 local Twickenham beers on draft and one of the only places where depending on what you buy can still get 2 pints for less than £10.
