About This Pub

You know, when I think about The Bloomsbury Pub, it's got that real homely feel that makes you want to settle in for the evening. The food is brilliant – think delicious roasts and pizzas that taste just like a proper home-cooked meal, with portions so generous you'll struggle to finish. Pair that with a wide range of drinks and those friendly faces behind the bar, and it's easy to see why it's a favourite for locals and match-day crowds alike. The big screen for live sports is a real highlight too, perfect for catching the game with mates. But, to be fair, it's not all rosy; I've heard a few tales of the owner being a bit short-tempered, like turfing people out early without much warning, which could put a dampener on things. And while the overall vibe is welcoming, some spots could do with a spruce up to keep it tidy. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a bite, as long as you go in with your eyes open – the good far outweighs the bad, but it's good to know what you're getting into.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with generous portions that leave you feeling well satisfied – perfect for a hearty meal.
  • Friendly staff who make you feel right at home, always ready for a chat and adding to the welcoming vibe.
  • A cracking selection of drinks, including draft beers, wines, and spirits, so there's something for everyone.
  • Brilliant for watching live sports on that massive 120-inch projector screen – ideal if you're heading to Twickenham Stadium.
  • Reasonable prices that offer great value, especially for the quality of the grub and the cosy, traditional atmosphere.
Cons
  • There have been reports of the owner being a bit rude and abrupt, like kicking folks out early when they've had enough for the night.
  • Some areas, such as the windows and windowsills, could use a good clean to keep things looking fresh.
  • Opening hours might be a tad inconsistent or earlier than you'd hope, so it's worth checking before you head over.

Shockingly rude “owner” (short and bald in case he isn’t and the owner needs to identify him 😇) who kicked us out at 10pm because “the football had finished and I am not staying up for you two”. He told us to “get out” without even joking. We are two middle aged men who live in the area and were having a quiet beer when he aggressively engaged us. Unbelievable that he would not care about the patrons who are keeping his pub alive!!

I’ve been here many times since first coming across it, almost always to have food and it has never disappointed!! The food is so good, the staff are lovely and the prices are more than reasonable. As someone who is rarely impressed by food when eating out, I’m still suprised that everything I or my friends have ordered here has been delicious, from kebabs, to burgers to fajitas. Come hungry, the portions are huge!

Perfect Sunday roast, attentive staff. Funny toilet! Two big TVs. Comfortable chairs. Windows are dusty and windowsills are not very clean either

a real gem. there aren’t many pubs like this around anymore. the roast was a real old school home cooked one. i love a posh roast but this was just like stepping into a time machine and being a child again. warm and hearty meal with my family in a homely pub. the barmaid was a darling as well. will definitely be back 🩷

As always this pub delivers on warmth, charm and plenty of character. Great, friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. Live sport on the HUGE projector and to top it off they serve the best food in Twickenham. The food here is to die for!! Amazing Pub!
