My wife and I came for an afternoon’s pasta making workshop (also utterly fantastic but separate to this review) during a weekend in Bath, down from Glasgow, and once complete, settled ourselves at the small bar for a pint before heading for home. We got chatting to the owner Ian, who let us taste the local tipples, gave us some great chat, introduced us to the charming lady next door and made us feel incredibly welcomed. One hour turned into 2, turned in 3 and into 4, by which time we’d met all manner of passing punters, local residents and a few new faces to the area - putting the world to rights over more than a few ciders and white wines. The vibe was cosy, friendly, incredibly welcoming and with a great background playlist to boot.
The Richmond Arms is clearly a special pub, nestled snugly in between a row of historic houses, one that’s warmly enjoyed by those who live near by. To get to it, you will need to climb one of the steepest streets anywhere in existence, up from Bath town centre, (we cheated and got the bus) but I guarantee you it’ll be well worth it for an afternoon spent this hidden gem.
What a welcoming and charming neighbourhood pub! Staff were happy and so friendly. Atmosphere perfect for a relaxing pint….& the cheese platter was filled with fantastic, quality and ample morsels. Done right, thanks guys….wish it were in my Australian neighbourhood, back home! 🏴🇦🇺
Stayed here for the weekend with some friends while visiting Bath and honestly, we had such a great time! The pub downstairs has a really cozy vibe, and the accommodation upstairs was perfect for us. Ian, the host, is an absolute gem – super friendly and easy to talk to. We were welcomed with big smiles, lovely chats, and even some complimentary drinks when we arrived, which was such a nice touch. The whole place felt really safe and welcoming. Would 100% stay here again next time we’re in town!
Fantastic pub, great vibe, really good beer selection at decent prices, and really friendly staff. Cheeseboard was mega too
I love The Richmond! Ian is an engaging, interesting and wonderful host. Sometimes the pub is quiet and intimate, other times it’s bustling and loud. I can turn up on my own, or with my family, and it’s always welcoming. They also do amazing cheeseboards!
