About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Star Inn – it's one of those gems in Bath that really captures the heart of what makes a great pub. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by this warm, inviting space full of character, with wooden floors, old fireplaces, and little rooms that feel like they've got stories to tell. The beers are spot on, especially their own Abbey Ales; I mean, who could resist a pint of Bellringer after hearing it's a local favourite? It's all about that relaxed, friendly feel where you can settle in for a good chat, and the staff go out of their way to make sure you're looked after. That said, it's not for everyone – being a bit out of the way means it's quieter than the busier spots in town, which is lovely if you fancy some peace, but might not hit the mark if you're after a more energetic night out. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting an authentic pub experience with top-notch drinks and a homely touch, though you might want to plan ahead if space is a concern on peak times.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The Star Inn has this wonderful historic charm that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time, with its wood panelling, old fireplaces, and cosy nooks – absolutely perfect for a relaxing pint.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of real ales, especially the local Abbey Ales like Bellringer, which is a real treat and even won them CAMRA Pub of the Year back in 2022.
-
The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's a bit quieter being slightly out of the city centre, which is great if you're after a peaceful spot to chat with mates without the hustle and bustle.
Cons
-
It's tucked away a little from the main hustle of Bath, so if you're looking for a lively, central spot with more going on, you might find it a tad too subdued.
-
The pub is quite small and intimate, which adds to the charm but could feel a bit cramped on busier evenings.

Great boozer, Bass on draught - got lots of character.
Little bit out of town, so bit quieter than central pubs - but definitely worth a visit!
A real, real pub. Great decor, great fresh drinks. Super relaxed and friendly. You could imagine yourself here in the mid 19th century with carriages coming and going outside. Will definitely visit again when I’m back in the city.

Have had this wonderful pub on my to visit list for years and finally I made it there yesterday. It's a small place with lots of character which was worth a visit. There was a good selection of ale to choose from. I opted for the Bass which
was poured directly from the barrel and is one of the best pints of said ale I have sampled for a long, long time. The bar person was a top guy, very chatty and pleasant. Definitely worth a visit. I for one will be returning.
This has to be one of the most historic, traditional pubs I’ve been to in the UK. Loved the atmosphere and pokey layout of the pub and the roaring fire.
What a great old worldly pub. A few small rooms all with wood panelling and glass partitions. Old type fireplaces. Wooden floors throughout. Tap beers and real ales available. It's really like going back in time, brilliant. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Old type bench seats. Beer was good. Great visit.
