About This Pub

So, chatting about The Red Dog, it's one of those pubs that really hits the mark for a laid-back day out. From the reviews, folks are raving about the food – think fresh, hearty dishes with portions that'll fill you up, and it's all at prices that won't sting your wallet. The staff come across as genuinely welcoming, creating that homely feel you want in a traditional spot, perfect for nipping in with friends or family. It's got a nice, rustic charm that makes you want to stay for another round. On the flip side, a couple of people have noted some rough patches in the past, like not-so-great visits before, but the recent buzz suggests they've turned things around. All in all, if you're in the Rochester area, I'd say give it a go – it's a solid choice for a bite and a bevvy, with plenty of positives to outweigh any minor niggles.

Good prices, great portions. First visit as just moved to a local village. Definitely not the last. Welcoming too. We were going to another pub for lunch, but walked in to a very unwelcoming atmosphere, so did a quick search and found this place. Glad we did, 100% better atmosphere. My friend particularly raved the mussels 👌

Every time we come here to the UK we stop into the Red dog, it is also next door to the church where we are able to visit our Nanny & Grandad, Uncle Peter too. (RIP) The food, The AMAZING CHEF, the waitress everyone is awesome, the atmosphere is just as it should be for a proper English pub. Lots of laughing, cheers and enjoying yourself. Our Mom is in a wheelchair, getting in and out is no problem, they're very accommodating to her needs and food that she is able to eat. I can't think of a single criticism. Very pleased with them all. Thankful they're in walking distance from my Mom and Dad's home.

Ate lunch here today with family who were visiting, and the food was very fresh and really quite delicious. No complaints about the meals eaten at all. I have been here before on previous ocassions in years past, and had a couple of bad experiences. Lovely to see that there is CCTV coverage indoors as well as some very welcoming, friendly and professional staff. One small complaint is that the restaurant was largely empty, and very cold where we were seated. They have the ability to have the fire going on cold, wintery days, but are not utilising it. Also, there was music playing, but was not audible in the seated restaurant section.

Wow… we was staying at Haven Holiday Park as a family of 6 including my dad who is the most fussiest eater.. Blown away by the quality of the food. We all finished our food and really enjoyed it. Great find. Highly recommend. X

The Red Dog Pub is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone who enjoys exceptional food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff and a cosy, rustic setting that makes you feel right at home. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Steak and Ale Pie—hands down the best I’ve ever tasted! The pastry was perfectly golden and flaky, and the filling was packed with tender, flavourful beef in a rich, hearty ale gravy. Every bite was a delight, and it’s clear that real care and top-quality ingredients go into their food. The rest of the menu looked equally enticing, with plenty of classic pub favourites and some interesting twists for more adventurous diners. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the service is attentive without being overbearing. Whether you’re popping in for a pint, a meal, or a full evening out, The Red Dog Pub delivers on all fronts. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone in search of great food and a welcoming atmosphere. Well done to the team at The Red Dog! Keep up the fantastic work.
