About This Pub
Ah, The Five Bells – what a gem of a pub it is! From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's one of those places that just gets it right without trying too hard. The staff are proper legends, always chatty and quick to make you feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a Sunday roast or just a quick drink. Speaking of the food, it's bang on – reviewers rave about the homemade Yorkshire puddings, generous portions of meat and veg, and even those massive baguettes that come with salad and fries, all at prices that won't break the bank. Then there's the atmosphere; it's clean as a whistle, with a pool table for a bit of fun, a huge TV if you're into the footie, and a beer garden that's just made for lazy afternoons. They've got a solid range of drinks too, which is always a plus. On the flip side, it's a shame their website's not up and running, so you might have to give them a ring or just turn up to see what's what. And while it shuts at 11 PM, that's probably fair for a local spot like this. All in all, if you're in the Rochester area, it's well worth a visit for a relaxed evening – you'll likely leave with a smile and plans to return soon.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty Sunday lunches with homemade Yorkshire puds, massive baguettes, and excellent value for money.
-
It's got a lovely atmosphere with a pool table, a massive TV for watching the match, and a cracking beer garden that's perfect for a sunny afternoon.
-
A great selection of drinks on tap, including some top-notch bitters, and it's dog-friendly too, so you can bring the furry friend along.
-
The place is spotlessly clean and has a warm, community feel that's ideal for families or a casual catch-up with mates.
Cons
-
The website isn't working properly, so it's a bit tricky to check menus or details online before heading over.
-
It closes at 11 PM, which might feel a tad early if you're after a late-night session.
-
With only around 50 reviews so far, it might not be as buzzing as some bigger pubs, though that's part of its charm as a local spot.

Absolutely fantastic little pub, has a pool table, massive TV and beer garden. Loads of selections of drinks and we can't wait to come back again!
Me and my partner just moved into the area . Wanted to find a local pub for Sunday lunch . It was amazing !! homemade Yorkshire puddings plenty of meat and veg. Price was very good . The 3 ladies that worked there very welcoming and really looked after us . Thank you five bells see you again soon
The new owners here have excelled themselves!! Popped in with my partner yesterday for lunch before the school run with the dog, really friendly staff, great new look and the food was amazing 👌 I stayed with the dog and the kids came after school because the atmosphere for a Friday afternoon evening was safe and pleasant, back garden and all the work, spot on! I called the neighbours up and had a dad's night and left eventually around 10.30pm 😬 really happy to have a great village pub back, dog and child friendly with awesome grub, thanks to all the staff for a great time, see you soon 👍
Just had lunch here, we weren't that hungry so opted for a baguette. It was massive and came with salad and fries. It tasted delicious and was good value. The bitters on draft were also good.
Would definitely recommend it if you are in the area.
Had Sunday lunch here for the first time, Absolutely lovely. The place has a lovely atmosphere and is spotlessly clean, staff are chatty and friendly and service was quick.
Food - Good choice of Sunday meals, came with veg and some superb gravy. The food was excellent, some of the nicest beef I have had in years, veg was cooked well and everything was so tasty. Will be going back to try some of their other options.
