About This Pub

Ah, The Raven – it's one of those cosy little pubs that just feels like a proper local hideaway, doesn't it? I've popped in a few times, and I have to say, the staff are absolute gems; they're so chatty and make you feel like you're catching up with old mates. It's a cracking place for sinking a pint of Guinness on a quiet afternoon, especially after a stroll around the area, and the prices won't leave you feeling out of pocket. The outdoor seating is a nice touch when the weather's playing ball, and it's great that they welcome dogs – perfect for us dog lovers. On the flip side, though, the food situation is a bit basic; you're looking at simple options like nachos or a ploughman's, with no hot meals in sight, which is a shame if you're in the mood for something more substantial. And while the beers are reliable, there's not much variety beyond the usual suspects, so if you're after a rare ale, you might want to look elsewhere. All in all, it's a solid spot for a relaxed catch-up, but keep expectations realistic for the grub and drinks.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • It's a lovely spot for a casual pint, with a solid selection of mainstream beers like a great Guinness that's always well-poured.
  • Prices are really reasonable, so you can enjoy a drink or a quick bite without breaking the bank.
  • The pub has a charming village atmosphere, perfect for relaxing after a walk, with outdoor seating that's ideal on a sunny day.
  • Dogs are welcome, which is brilliant if you're out with your furry friend, and they even have live music on weekends to liven things up.
Cons
  • Food options are pretty limited, mostly just pre-made items like ham and cheese rolls, nachos, or a ploughman's lunch – no cooked meals to speak of, which might disappoint if you're after a proper pub grub feast.
  • The beer selection sticks to mainstream choices, with no guest ales on offer, so it might feel a bit lacking for those who fancy something more varied or adventurous.
  • From what I've seen, the menu seems to have changed over time, so if you're expecting a full Sunday roast based on older feedback, you might end up a tad let down.

Nice pub. Dropped in one Sunday for a drink + something to eat, but found they didn't serve cooked food... only pre made ham/cheese rolls, nachos or ploughman's lunch. Staff were great & friendly & the nachos & ploughman's great; not expensive & satisfied the hunger! Nice pint of Guinness too! 😋

Lovely local pub. Would love there to be guest ales but everything else they do is well presented. Update: all as before but still only mainstream beers. Good pint of Guinness.

Fantastic. Best Sunday pub lunch that I've had for a long, long time. I had the pate starter, roast beef with season fresh vegetables, cauliflower cheese and gravy. Then I had apple pie and ice cream, could have had custard. All that for £13.00, and the drinks were very reasonably priced. If you are stopping in Coventry, then it's worth driving to Brinklow. Give them a call and make a reservation

Nice little pub, quiet and welcoming and friendly staff. Small lunch menu, but sufficient and cheap. Football on the tv. Dogs are welcome. Outdoor seating out the front and back which would be nice on a Sunny afternoon. Under new management. Looks like they have live music on at weekends too, so can't knock it.
