About This Pub
You know, I recently had a wander into The Railway in Teddington, and it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem. The Sunday roasts are something else – think juicy lamb or whatever's on offer, all made with the best local ingredients and served up in generous portions that leave you satisfied. The bar's got a cracking range of real ales and wines, and it's so handy being right by the station and Bushy Park, perfect if you're out for a stroll and fancy a pitstop. The staff are genuinely warm and on point, making you feel right at home, which is why so many folks rave about the place. On the flip side, it can get a bit sluggish with service when things are buzzing, and if you end up outside, you might have to navigate around smokers or people waiting for tables. Still, overall, it's a solid spot for a good feed and a chat – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but maybe book ahead to avoid any hiccups.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, especially those Sunday roasts – they're cooked to perfection with fresh, seasonal British ingredients that make every bite feel special.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready with a smile and a chat, which really adds to the warm, welcoming atmosphere.
-
It's in a brilliant spot near Teddington Station and Bushy Park, making it a perfect pitstop after a walk, and they welcome dogs too, which is great for us dog lovers.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of real ales, beers, cocktails, and wines, plus it's a family-run spot with daily deals and inventive dishes that keep things exciting.
-
The portions are generous, so you won't leave hungry, and the overall vibe is cosy and peaceful, ideal for a relaxed catch-up with friends.
Cons
-
Service can be a tad slow during busy times, which might leave you waiting a bit longer than you'd like for your food or drinks.
-
The outdoor patio is heated but doubles as a smoking and waiting area, so it might not be the most relaxing spot if you're sensitive to that.
-
While the food's generally excellent, desserts can be hit or miss, as one person mentioned theirs was only so-so.
-
It can get quite popular, so you might need to book ahead to snag a table indoors and avoid any crowds spilling over.

The staff were happy, friendly and very attentive. And the food was lovely too. I had the lamb dinner and everything on my plate was cooked to perfection. What a lovely way to spend a few hours on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
Honestly such a wonderful, warm and cozy venue. The staff are incredibly helpful and were so attentive to mine and my parties requirements. I highly recommend this wonderful pub if you want to get away from massive crowds as the peaceful atmosphere was perfect for my party and I. An extra special mention to Caitlin - the wonderful host on the door and Bradley the bartender. First class service! Will absolutely be coming back! Thank you Railway team!
The service was a bit slow but they servers were really nice and had a good sense of humour, also super polite. Main courses were excellent, dessert was 50/50. Would go again.
The best roast I’ve ever eaten out! Everything is cooked to Perfection and so tasty!
Highly recommend the ultimate roast, food was superb!
Portions were large , we had to take some of the food away.
Went with my two dogs and sat outside in their patio, which was heated but used as a smoking/ waiting area for pple yet to be seated. Next time, we will book a table indoors.
