About This Pub
Ah, The Castlebar, tucked away on Teddington's high street – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem. I've got to say, the food here is a real winner; think fresh, hearty breakfasts and dishes that leave you satisfied, all served up with a smile. The team behind the bar are just lovely, always ready with a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the welcoming feel. On nicer days, the beer garden out back is a treat, and with live music weekends and sports on the screens, it's spot on for a bit of excitement without straying too far from home. That said, it's not without its quirks – the website could do with a spruce-up as it's a tad basic, and you might want to keep an eye on the costs since they're not upfront. Plus, it does get buzzing during peak times, so if you're in the mood for something more low-key, it might not be the best pick. All in all, it's a solid choice for good food, laughs, and a pint, and I'd happily pop in again for the atmosphere alone.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely delicious, with fresh ingredients and standout breakfast options like egg florentine and full English that really hit the spot.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in – shout out to the likes of Lara, Valentina, and Christina for their top-notch service.
-
It's got a charming, cosy atmosphere with a beautiful beer garden perfect for sunny days, plus live music on Fridays and Saturdays to keep things lively.
-
A brilliant spot for sports enthusiasts, with multiple HD screens showing all the BT, Sky, and TNT events, and even a dartboard for some added fun.
-
Convenient location on the high street with a small car park, and it's dog-friendly, family-oriented, and has a function room for gatherings.
Cons
-
The website is a bit repetitive and not very detailed, which might make it tricky to get all the info you need before heading over.
-
Prices aren't specified anywhere, so you might end up surprised if it's on the pricier side for a casual pub outing.
-
It can get quite busy, especially with live music or sports events, so if you're after a peaceful, quiet spot, it might not always deliver.
